Growing up as a young Muslim in Australia in the 1980s, Kuranda Seyfettin Seyit experienced firsthand the challenges faced by culturally diverse communities seeking acceptance.

He began advocating for refugees, a prominent voice in promoting understanding and challenging stereotypes, which led to the
Goodness and Kindness campaign, bringing together Muslims, Christians and Jews to foster interfaith understanding in schools across Australia.

Today he is recognised for his decades of service to multicultural communities in Victoria, awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)

Cranbourne educator Jennifer (Jenny) Mackay, who created a system to transform the lives of thousands of students and their families, has been recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

From her debut as a teacher in 1986 to assistant principal at Dandenong North Primary School (DNPS), where she served an incredible 36 years, she herself was confronted with a unique challenge at the school.

Mrs MacKay says the students and the school's success is her real OAM moment.
