Customers and the Parkes business community are saying their final farewells this week to the Little Black Dress and Brooke Soeder, who said she's been very well supported these past nine years. She's been forced to close down for multiple reasons but one that includes a poor economic climate.

While we've counted a ridiculous number of empty shops in our immediate CBD, what's not being shown is the amount of new businesses and industry that has been opening or reopening, or on the horizon.

So it's not all bad but business chamber leaders are urging communities to support local shopping as much as possible after what has been a tough year in retail and for small businesses.
