π½π¦ π¨ Did you know? Flushing the toilet with the lid up can release an invisible cloud of tiny germs into the air! π·π¬οΈ
Every time the toilet is flushed without closing the lid, a phenomenon called the βtoilet plumeβ happens: microscopic droplets containing bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms from f***s and urine are released πΏπ¦. This invisible cloud can rise up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) and stay suspended in the air for several minutes β³π¦ .
π¬ What does science say?
Research confirms these particles can contaminate not only the air but also nearby surfaces like toothbrushes πͺ₯, towels π§΄, soaps π§Ό, and even phones π± or keyboards β¨οΈ in the bathroom. Some of the bacteria found include E. coli and Clostridium difficile, which may cause illnesses, especially in people with weaker immune systems π©ββοΈπ§ββοΈ.
π¬οΈ Ventilation matters!
Bathrooms with poor ventilation increase the concentration of these germs, making it easier for them to spread πͺπ. Keeping your bathroom well-ventilated helps reduce this risk πΏπ.
β
How to prevent it?
The simplest and most effective step is to always close the toilet lid before flushing π½π. This greatly reduces the number of germs released into the air π«οΈβ. Also, regular cleaning and good airflow help keep your bathroom safe and fresh β¨π§Ή.
