Yo, I laid this floor yesterday and grouted it today. It took me 9 hours to do both which I thought was alright, but bossman came in and said he's "extremely disappointed" that's all I had done. So my question is am I slow? Theres 27 cut pieces, and it's a 50-100 yard walk the saw, 100-150 yards to the tool trailer. I'm the only one working and I'm paid $29 an hour. Give it to me straight doc.

I’m renovating my bathroom and this is my first time tiling. I know it’s bad that’s why I’m here. Is this fixable or should I tear it out and redo it? My concern is the nonexistent spacing between some of the tiles. I wouldn’t be able to get grout between some of the them. I just wanted a second opinion before I went through with it. Also, I have already removed some of the tiles because I cut them too short

I’m very disappointed and a little defeated. I didn’t think we went with the cheapest option - we got many similar quotes (4k for the floor and the shower walls, not including the tile). I searched for so long to find someone. I tried to avoid workers who’s reference pictures showed poor choices, like leaving a skinny strip at the end because they didn’t do the math before they started. I scheduled many estimates, some of whom just never showed up. I almost went with one company before I realized they had stolen reference photos from other websites.
How do I go about finding a good, reliable tiler as a home owner, without a contractor? Are all the good tilers only connected with contractors and they don’t need to advertise to home owners? I would appreciate any tips.

I’m not sure if you can, but can anyone talk me off a ledge about my tile selection? I’m so sick about it. My husband and I are renovating a house so that we can eventually make money on it. This means of course that it’s not my dream home, BUT I always believe that you can pick out great selections without being cheap or “millennial flipper”. My bathroom is 100% giving millennial flip. 😭
It all went wrong when I had tile selected from Bedrosians. My husband is in construction so has connections with tile companies. Tile lady said “oh I can match that”. It’s absolutely not matched 😭 (it’s my fault, not hers— I approved it and didn’t do my homework)
I hate the seat. I hate the tile. It looks like an LA Fitness bathroom. It’s currently not grouted and niche isn’t complete obviously, grout will be white. I think grout will soften the blow but it’s always going to be cheap looking tile. We also have a beautiful brass shower kit that I spent a lot of money on so I hate to cheapen it with this tile.

The inside corner of these hexagons you can see stays on bond at the bottom and falls completely off at the top. To me the hexagons should look as if they’re bending giving the illusion of a complete hex. I am asking because I’m paying so much $25sf and that is just labor. I bought all materials.
I get the wall could be out of plumb, but in that case it comes to prep work and making sure the wall is completely square before the first tile is set.
I meet with contractor in the morning. Please let me know what y’all think.
Thanks.

Suggestions on how to fill the 8.5" gap between boards in my decking. I decided to redo the surface of my (really long) porch/deck in a picture frame sort of style, with no ends butting up against each other. I am using 5/4 x 6 wood decking for this. I went from the outside-in on both sides (seems like a dumb idea now). I am now left with a ~8.5" gap in the center. How should I finish this? At this point my best idea is to rip 2 boards half width with a table saw to fill the gap, but I am open to other ideas. Are there wider 5/4 deck boards I can find somewhere? Or some other sort of 5/4 boards that I can use to fill the width as an accent? Use stained 1x10 common boards (as an accent) with shims under to match height? Thanks!

Is this too thin for a subfloor? Putting in a subfloor for a bathroom and dining area that’s getting tiled. Don’t want to go too thick otherwise it’ll be uneven with the transition to hardwood. Is this 1/2 inch osb acceptable?

Came across this gem while replacing some plaster with drywall. Have to love the 9 1/2” lvl beams supported by a hope, a prayer and drywall screws.
