Art is subjective, just like people's preferences for who they want to work with. Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to art, and what one person loves, another person might not be into at all. It's all about personal preference and how it makes you feel.

As the saying goes, you might not be everyone's cup of tea but you may be someone's tequila!

The same goes for working with others. We all have different ideas of who we want to collaborate with. It's about finding someone who clicks with us, someone we get along with and work well together. It's a matter of personal choice and what feels right.

Marketing during the COVID era was wild. I worked with some epic clients and brands who were operating amidst the pandemic, and I was burnt out. I worked a lot of 6am starts and til 12am nights for the company.

I took a mental day off after some hectic work days. A week later there was a staff meeting and in front of all my peers, I got called out for taking a day off as it was "not abiding by company policy" to take it off during the week of a campaign launch. After the meeting, I cried in the toilets thinking "I did something wrong"

But here's the thing I learned over years of feeling guilty: You're not wrong. You CAN take a day off for rest darling, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Don't let anyone guilt trip you for taking a mental health day. You shouldn't need to cry at work in order to take a day off.

It's okay to gently speak up if your company isn't respecting you OR your mental health. It matters that you take a day when you've been feeling overwhelmed.

*The constant battle of what I want my feed to look like has reached its endpoint (I think)*

Here's a backstory of why I'm a marketer, in case you were curious...
- I've always enjoyed being creative; scrapbooking, dabbling with painting, pottery and crafts
- I love seeing brands take off 🚀 It feels good doing good by businesses and real people
- Putting myself in a customer's shoes has always been my forte because I'm a really great customer myself (hehe!)
- I have Asian parents, who wanted my sibling and I to finish uni and become doctors... so I did the bit about finishing to uni 😂 I have Bachelor in Commerce though!

What's your work role and why did you get into it?

Can you believe we started Yin & Yang Social ONE YEAR ago?!

I’m gob-smacked that time has just flown by so quickly, and even more gob-smacked that I’ve barely posted on the account coz we've been such busy bees 😅

Knee Coal I Premium Edgy Website Designer and I will be catching up on our goals for in the coming months to decide where we want to be and what we want to do with our socials in the future.
