The Australian Masters Rowing Championships 2026 started last Wednesday under the threat of four continuous days of rain and storms, including the once-in-five-years monster that we just had. We weren't sure what to expect, but we prepared for the worst case of being rained out with a plan that would enable us to still fly in the rain.
As it turned out, we had beautiful weather for all four days, interrupted by only a few minutes of rain that did nothing to stop the action. And two hours after the last race on the final day, the skies finally opened up, bringing the storm that had been forecast for all four days. How lucky were we?
And to celebrate this WA Day, team Western Australia also took out the gold in this thrilling interstate race.
