How to create a mini shell pattern (part 3):

Part 3 continues on to create a pattern with the shells facing the same side. Each shell is separate from the previous shell, unlike in Part 2 where they share the same row of clove hitch knots in between 🐚

If you didn’t catch part 1 or part 2, leave a comment “part 1” or “part 2” and I’ll send you the link 😉

1. Continue on from part 1, having just finished a row of clove hitch knots to the left. Start with the cord on the left (cord 1) as the filler cord, tie a row of diagonal clove hitch knots down towards the right.
2. Leave the cord on the right. Using cord 3, tie 2 clove hitch knots back the other way, snugly under the first row. This will begin to form the lines of the shell.
3. Repeat this process using the new cord 3.
4. Once again using the cord on the left, tie another 2 clove hitch knots that fits snugly under the previous row.
4. Repeat this process using the new cord 1.
5. Finally, take the cord on the right that hadn’t been used since the 1st row and tie one final row of clove hitch knots back to the left. The first knot should pull the 2 ends of the shell closer together.

I’m leaving this reel up as a reminder of where we started 😂

We’ve already fixed some of the issues we had when we first moved it, but there’s still a lot of work to be done!

Being a Perth girl, I find it absolutely freezing in Victoria. In Perth you can pretty much put a jumper on & be warm in Winter. In Victoria the cold seems to get right into your bones 🥶

We’ll be fitting some kind of heater into the fireplace soon…we’re just still in discussions about which type will best suit us 🤔

And there will definitely be some effort put into better insulating the house as we fix it up ❤️

⬇️ More info below ⬇️

Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in the moment and being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling, without interpretation or judgment.

Many people believe that to practice mindfulness you need to be sitting on a mountaintop with a yogi guiding you through meditation, but this isn’t the case. You can incorporate mindfulness into many everyday activities. It’s a way to make monotonous chores more enjoyable, and to get the most out of your experiences by being intensely aware of your senses and immersing yourself in the moment.

☀️ What mindful activities have I missed? ☀️

Conditions that may be helped by practicing mindfulness:
💚 Anxiety
💚 Stress
💚 Depression
💚 Insomnia (inability to get quality sleep)
💚 Pain
💚 High blood pressure (hypertension)

🧶 How is macramé a mindful activity? 🧶

A mindful activity is something you can do that allows you to slow down, calm yourself, and focus on being present in the moment. Macramé can be a mindful activity because it enables you to relax and cultivate a sense of inner peace.

Try the following mindfulness exercises next time you’re completing a macramé project:

🧶 Focus on how the cotton cord feels between your fingers
🧶 Slow your breathing and focus on breath in and breath out
🧶 Clear your mind and concentrate only on creating the pattern before you
🧶 Appreciate the joy in the little things, such as a knot that came together just right
🧶 Become intensely aware of your movements and get into a rhythm tying knots
🧶 Notice any thoughts that come to mind, and let them move on without any judgment

A couple of weeks ago Phil decided to drive through Marysville up to Lake Mountain (in Victoria, Australia) to see if we could spot some snow

Unfortunately the road up Lake Mountain was closed, but we were lucky enough for some snow to have fallen in Marysville 🙌 ❄️

Being from Western Australia it’s still a novelty seeing snow, as we don’t ever get snow in Perth. The kids were also super-excited about getting to play in the snow as our youngest had never seen snow & our oldest was too young to remember seeing it ❤️

After 5 or 10 minutes out in the snow we all felt like we were frozen down to our bones because it was a spontaneous trip & we hadn’t packed anything other than jumpers 🥶

So we did the sensible thing & stopped in at the Marysville bakery for some hot chocolates (& a chai latte with almond milk for me) 😋

A day or 2 later we then made a trip up Mt Donna Buang & had another chance to play in the snow!

This time I even made a giant snowman! ☃️ (Just kidding 😂 The snowman was lucky to be 10 centimetres tall 😂😂😂)

How to create a mini shell pattern (part 2):

Part 2 continues on to create a wavy shell pattern with the shells facing opposite sides. Each shell shares the same outer row of clove hitch knots with the previous shell 🐚

If you didn’t catch part 1, leave a comment “part 1” and I’ll send you the link 😉

1. Continuing on from part 1, start with a row of diagonal clove hitch knots down towards the right (you will have already complete this in part 1)
2. Leave the cord on the left. Using cord 2, tie 2 clove hitch knots across to the right, snugly under the first row. This will begin to form the lines of the shell.
3. Repeat this process using the new cord 2.
4. Now using the cord on the right, tie another 2 clove hitch knots coming back towards the left that fit snugly under the previous row.
4. Repeat this process using the new cord 4.
5. Finally, take the cord on the left that hadn’t been used since step 1 and tie one final row of 3 clove hitch knots back to the right. The first knot should pull the 2 ends of the shell closer together.

Part 3 will cover a different way this pattern can be continued 😊

One of the many sad parts about moving across Australia was not being able to bring all the plants Phil & I had been cultivating over the past few years

As we get older, we seem to be killing less & less plants 🤪 & our success rate is much, much higher

I did bring all the pots that I had my herbs and succulents in (thanks for repotting the plants & washing pots out at the last minute Mum 🙏) so I’m eager to get them unpacked so I can make some trips to buy some new plants over here

Have you ever noticed sometimes the surface underneath your indoor pot plants becomes a little damaged? One way to care for your indoor surfaces is to place a macrame coaster underneath your pots 🙌

Macrame coasters can be custom made to whatever size your pot requires 🪴

Leave a comment “coaster” if you’d like to receive a DM with the link when I release the macrame coaster pattern 😉

One of our favourite places to eat in Echuca, 🐝

Absolutely delicious food every time, great coffee, & somewhere for the kids to play ✅

They’ve had crepes on offer the last couple of times we’ve been, so the kids have taste-tested all 3 crepe options and confirmed they’re all delicious 😋 😂

Also plenty of vegetarian options on the menu for me 🙌

Inside you’ll find the honey shop, with 4 options of raw, organic honey (so now we get to enjoy their honey at home too!)

I never remember to take photos of my food before I eat it 😂 This was a weekday lunchtime so it was fairly quiet. However, weekends and holidays we’ve walked past & the place is packed (& rightly so!)
