We were warned about this road… 😅

What followed was some of the roughest and slowest driving we’ve experienced on our lap around Australia - and now we understand why this stretch has the reputation it does.

This episode takes us from Leichhardt Falls to Hell’s Gate Roadhouse before tackling the infamous journey toward Borroloola in the NT 🚐💨

There’s brutal corrugations, a remote outback pub, natural hot springs, a frustrating caravan encounter and some absolutely wild scenery along the way.

And honestly… it was such a ride ❤️

We took our caravan HERE… bad idea 😅

We knew the Savannah Way would probably throw us a few curve balls… and yep, it definitely did.

Soft sand, boggings and even a damaged caravan tyre in the middle of nowhere - but honestly, that’s all part of travelling remote Australia and we wouldn’t have it any other way 🙌

And trust us… the destination was worth it ❤️
This episode also takes us through Croydon & Normanton, the famous Gulflander train, and some very questionable “fishing for beginners” from Mark & Max 😂

Somehow… they even managed to land a Barra 🎣

No bookings. No plan. No idea where we’re going… 😅
This is the Savannah Way at its best - red dirt roads, remote towns, and some seriously good free camping.

But travelling like this? It doesn’t always go to plan…
From chasing camp spots (and missing a GPS pin 👀), to swimming in croc country and finding one of the best free camps we’ve ever stayed at - this leg had a bit of everything.

We didn’t expect the Savannah Way to start like this…

One small mistake the night before completely changed our plans - and had us questioning everything the next morning 🤦‍♂️

Not exactly the smooth start we had in mind…

But as always with travel, things don’t go to plan and sometimes that’s where the best stories begin.

This is the start of our Savannah Way adventure… and it gets interesting pretty quickly.

I wasn’t even sure if I’d share it… but it felt like an important part of the journey to be honest about.

A week late too - so thanks for sticking with us 🙏

This episode’s a bit different. We always knew long-term travel would come with challenges - but this is one we didn’t expect.

Plenty of good in this one too as we explore Babinda, Daintree, get our first taste of crocs 🐊 and a few cooking fails 😂… but also a moment that caught me off guard.
