Living proof that 50s are your strongest decade

Divorce after 50 isn’t a failure. Sometimes, it’s the ultimate reclamation. 🥂
For decades, society has looked at “grey divorce” through a lens of pity or defeat. But if you actually talk to the women walking this path, you’ll hear a completely different story.
It’s not a midlife crisis. It’s an awakening. ⚡
It’s the moment a woman decides that peace, autonomy, and alignment matter more than keeping up appearances or staying in a comfort zone that no longer fits. It’s about refusing to spend the second half of life just renting space in a narrative written by everyone else.
In the latest episode of Unfiltered and Unbound, we are pulling back the curtain on the raw reality of midlife divorce—the grief, the financial shifts, the family dynamics, and the incredible liberation that comes with starting over on your own terms.

Strong women don’t just lift weights — we lift each other.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are our standing date to show up, move our bodies, protect our mental health, and lift heavy sh*t… together.

This is what 50+ looks like:
Real women. Real sweat. Real friendship.
Not filtered, not AI-generated — just two midlife women choosing strength, consistency, and community.

Here’s to normalising women 50+ in the gym who aren’t bodybuilders, influencers, or 30-year-olds with ring lights…
Just women who know the power of showing up for ourselves and each other.

I am well aware of the irony of this post as I sit down to write it.
A few weeks ago I had somewhat of a digital detox weekend, and I came back from that weekend feeling refreshed. And my intention was to revisit this to a smaller degree each weekend (ie: small things like not picking up my phone on waking, and putting the phone in the bathroom while I sleep)

This is a hard habit to break. (not impossible) but hard.
When I look at how embedded in my life my phone has become, its no wonder its a hard habit to break.

Each morning I wake up my whoop will provide me with a report on how well ‘ I slept’ (my garmin does the same thing.
On training days, the session for the day is both on my phone and my watch.
I also use the phone to control my lights, and whilst there is a voice activation option, it’s still using my phone to turn the lights (and or heater on) when it is cold and dark here in the mornings.

I also like to listen to music or a podcast while walking or riding my indoor bike (again, stored on my phone). And then of course there is the messaging of friends on the weekend when organising catch ups etc.

My commitment to myself today (after I post this) is to walk away from both the phone and the computer, go outside, get some fresh air, and engage in activities that don’t require the use of my phone or computer.

What other activities are you doing this weekend that don’t involve using your phone or computer?

Busselton, you were magic. 🌊☀️🚴‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Three days of ocean air, early starts, triathlon energy, beach walks, coffee chats, laughs, friendship and memories that will stay with us long after the bikes are packed away.

From race morning nerves to sunset views over the jetty, this weekend was about more than sport. It was about connection, adventure and the kind of friendships that make life richer.

Already counting down until the next trip. 💛
