This week it’s time to head home. In this final chapter of our Ningaloo, Pilbara and Kimberley adventure we leave Tom Price and begin the long drive back to Perth via Cue. A couple of peaceful roadside camps, and one last surprise stop in New Norcia.

Along the way, we encounter the less glamorous side of outback travel; a roadside stop littered with rubbish and poo tickets - a stark reminder of why leave no trace matters.

But the journey end on a high note, with a stop in New Norcia and a promise to explore this Monastic town properly. After weeks of wild landscapes, mechanical hiccups, and unforgettable moments, this episode is a gentle wind down with a dash of real world grit.

Suspension Snaps and Iron Giants.

This week was meant to be a quick reset in Tom Price - washing clothes, restocking and soaking in a long hot shower. But just as we are about to leave, Shaun spotted something alarming; the caravan suspension had snapped. The hanger was hanging where it absolutely shouldn't have been.

With the van no longer towable, we extended our stay at G'day Park Tom Price, cancelled plans for Kalbarri and Steep Point, and began the warranty repair dance with the manufacturer. The van was only 8 weeks old!

While waiting for repairs, the explore the surprising stunning town of Tom Price and took a guided tour of the Rio Tinto mine - one of the largest open cut iron ore operations in the world. Renee's mind was blown by the scale, the machinery, and the unexpected magic of this mining town.

This week we push through the Pilbara with a migraine, sore back and a whole lot of determination. We explore the dramatic depths of Knox Gorge, the cool serenity of Circular Pool, and take in the sweeping views from 3 Way Gorge Lookout.
Back at Albert Tognilini Rest Area we build an open fire and soak in the silence. It's a raw, real slice of Karajini, equal parts challenge and wonder.

In this first chapter, we explore the tranquil Fern Pool and cascading beauty of Fortescue Falls, and whip up an outdoor Italian feast with a view at the breathtaking Albert Tognolini lookout. We finish the Gibb with a bang - and a bath! From Ellenbrae Station's famous scones and a romantic sunset soak to crossing the Pentacost River where fishing meets crocodile country, this episode is full of contrasts. At El Questro we unwwind in Zebedee Springs, hike Emma Gorge with a curious guide and wrap it all up with a final river crossing at Ivanhoe. It's wild, whimsical and the perfect end to the Gibb River Road.
