A very special and poignant evening at the dinner last night as we celebrated the lasting legacy of conference founder Keith Yates AM.

Our sincere thanks to another industry legend, Derek Carter, for delivering such a heartfelt tribute to one of his dearest friends.

Thanks also to Intertek Minerals for their ongoing sponsorship of the gold nugget draw.

✨The issue of Australia’s Paydirt is now available to subscribers!

Featuring FireFly Metals geology manager Juan Gutierrez and chief executive Darren Cooke on the cover, we shine the spotlight on the Canadian province of Newfoundland. Our editor Dominic Piper headed to the edge of the North American continent for a firsthand look at the copper-gold potential of the Green Bay project, as well as touch base with the likes of AuMEGA Metals and New Found Gold Corp.

Australia’s Top End has blown hot and cold from an exploration perspective in the last two decades but the landscape in the now appears more open than ever, thanks to with the incumbent Country Liberal Party Government. We look at some of the juniors taking advantage of the shift, including Emmerson Resources, Kingsland Minerals, Litchfield Minerals and DevEx Resources.

We also review the 30th edition of the Australian Nickel Conference. While no one is anticipating a full-blown boom, the remaining hardy souls of the sector feel a revival might be coming sooner than anyone expected. See what the likes of Centaurus Metals, Ardea Resources, Legend Mining and Western Mines Group had to say.

🗣️ This time last week we hosted the 30th edition of the Australian Nickel Conference at Pan Pacific Perth.

đź’Ş While these are far from high times for the Australian sector, the remaining hardy souls who gathered at the Pan Pacific Perth certainly walked away feeling optimistic, if these comments from some of our expert panellists are anything to go by:

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen a scenario where precious metals have spiked so aggressively and base metals haven’t followed. Copper is about to rip, and nickel will follow." - Scott Williamson, managing director of Blackstone Minerals

"These discoveries are the lifeblood of our industry. You have to be a bit crazy, a bit optimistic, but that what is makes this industry tick." - Mark Wilson, executive chair of Legend Mining

"Everybody is looking for long-term, stable, low-cost supply of nickel not coming from Indonesia or China." - Natalia Streltsova, non-executive director of Centaurus Metals

"Brokers who wouldn’t spit on you nine months ago are now calling for an update. I think we are through the worst of it.” - Caedmon Marriott, managing director of Western Mines Group

"It really doesn’t matter what the nickel price is, if you find one of these deposits, you’ll make money.” - Allan Kelly, executive chair of Miramar Resources

🙏 Thanks again to all of the sponsors and supporters for helping us continue the nickel tradition.
