🏆 Welcome the 2025 winners to the Awards Honour Roll 🏆

Ramelius Resources and Tesoro Gold join some incredible names to have taken home one of the gold sector's most coveted prizes over the past 25 years!

DID YOU KNOW…

❓ The first four years the Miner award went to the CEO rather than the company itself

❓ John Jones is the only individual to have won the Explorer award (in 2004)

❓ Dominion Mining and Northern Star Resources have won the most Miner prizes (three each)

❓ Ramelius is just the second company (alongside West African Resources) to have claimed both the Explorer and Miner titles

❓ Westgold won the Explorer gong in 2008 but it's not the same Westgold Resources which was crowned Miner of the Year in 2023 (although it sort of is!)

❓ Jake Klein (Evolution Mining and Sino Gold Mining) and Steve Parsons (Gryphon Mining and Bellevue Gold) have each lifted the trophy three times for two different companies

❓ Peter Cook still proudly mentions his 2001 Gold Mining Executive of the Year achievement in company bios!

❓ NewGenGold programme organiser Justin Osborne was part of the Gold Road Resources team which won back-to-back Explorer awards in 2014 and 2015 and is now one of our longest-serving judges

Congratulations to Ramelius Resources, the 2025 Miner of the Year!

Ramelius managing director Mark Zeptner said: “To win the GMJ Miner of the Year after consistently being nominated in recent years, really caps off a great 2025 for Ramelius. I understand that the company won the ‘Explorer of the Year’ back in 2007, and to now win the 'Miner' is a testament to our growth over the last 20 years or so. Thanks to the Paydirt team for the recognition and their continued support of the gold mining sector.”

Only two companies in the 25-year history of the GMJ Awards have achieved the Miner-Explorer double!

GMJ Awards judge Mark Connelly said: “Ramelius is a great example of a well-run company led by some fantastic people. Mark Zeptner is one of the industry’s top operators, he’s very disciplined about the way he looks at his business and they’re deserving of this success. Ramelius always meet their targets, do what they say they’re going to do and don’t seem to chase ounces for growth or production status. I think the market is showing appreciation for their discipline with acquisition and their ability to integrate cultures, which is an incredibly challenging thing to do in business. Well done to Mark and the Ramelius team.”

Congratulations to Tesoro Gold, the 2025 Explorer of the Year!

Tesoro managing director Zeff Reeves said: “Being named Explorer of the Year is a tremendous endorsement of the Tesoro team’s achievements over many years at El Zorro. It recognises the technical discipline, innovation and conviction that have taken El Zorro from the discovery of Chile’s first intrusive-related gold system way back in 2017 to what is today one of Chile's most significant gold only development projects. This award is a major recognition of the Tesoro team for thinking about mineral systems in Chile differently and discovering what is now the new El Zorro gold district.”

GMJ Awards judge Justin Osborne said: “The Tesoro team have done a great job in an area not familiar to most of the Australian audience and deserves due recognition for this good work. In the last 18 months or so, they have really figured out the geology and are now building a sizeable resource nearing on 2 moz. With the knowledge gained, I am sure they will be growing this figure substantially, with a whole suite of nearby targets already identified.”

Tesoro is just the second winner from Latin America in the 25-year history of the GMJ Awards!
