Festive lights, live music and a wander by the water ✨

We headed down to Elizabeth Quay for the festive lights concert and it felt like peak Perth summer vibes — twinkly lights, great atmosphere and the kids absolutely loving it.

Afterwards we wandered through the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail and honestly… so magical 🌟
Bright displays, interactive light tunnels and that “wow” feeling as the city lights up for Christmas. One of those easy, feel-good nights where you just soak it all in (and take way too many photos 📸).

If you’re looking for a relaxed festive outing that’s kid-friendly and totally free, this one’s a must 🎄

🌊 Hamelin Bay, WA – the kind of beach you think only exists in postcards! White sand, turquoise water and the famous friendly stingrays gliding by the shore 😍

📍 Facilities nearby:
Hamelin Bay Holiday Park with camp sites + cabins, a small kiosk for essentials, BBQ areas, playground and boat ramp. Perfect for families, road trippers and salty-hair beach days.

✨ Things to do:
🐠 Spot the stingrays (go early!)
🤿 Snorkel and swim in calm, clear water
🚶‍♀️ Walk part of the Cape to Cape Track
🚤 Fishing + boating
🌲 Explore Boranup Forest & nearby caves/wineries

It can feel like an emotional rollercoaster 🎢 but using a migration agent made the process smoother!
We used and they were amazing!

2️⃣ How did you pick a state?
Honestly, all of Australia is amazing! We made a list: affordability 💰 (as much as possible 😅), family-friendly, laid-back vibe, and great outdoor lifestyle 🌿☀️

3️⃣ Is the cost of living high?
Yes and no! Groceries and housing can be pricey, but wages balance it out. We’re still much better off here than we were in the UK 💪

4️⃣ Was it hard to settle in?
Surprisingly, no! 🇦🇺 There are differences — food, routines, the Aussie work-life balance — but we quickly felt at home ❤️

5️⃣ How did the kids cope?
Saying goodbye was tough 💔 but now they absolutely love it here! Their confidence, happiness, and outdoor lifestyle have all flourished 🌈🏖️

💜A day at the Lavender Estate 💜
Perfect spot for photos, picnics, and picking up a few lavender goodies from the gift shop. The kids loved exploring, and I loved the serenity (and the smell!) 🌸

If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend escape near Perth, this is definitely worth the visit. 🌾☀️
