Two Real Life Heroes
“On 2nd July 2026, a tragic incident happened in Denchukha on the Toorsa River — the ropeway broke down.
The next day, the rescue and search team was activated. After searching, the body was found stuck between the two river channels.
The water was too strong and too dangerous. Even the rescue team couldn’t go in to bring the body out.
That’s when two men from Damji village the red gho and from Vangalay village the black gho, Denchukha Gewog stepped forward.
They are not professional rescuers. They had no special gear.
But they had courage, and they knew the river.
Without thinking about their own safety, these two heroes went into the deadly current and brought the body out. Because of them, the family could take their loved one home with dignity.
To honor their extraordinary act, Denchukha Lower Secondary School invited them and awarded them for their bravery. The whole school gathered to say thank you.”
