When you’re feeling down or out-of-sorts, especially as a busy mom, it’s essential to find ways to snap you out of it or stop you getting there in the first place! 🫶🏻
Here are three actionable things that you can do to help stay out of the ‘funk’ especially when you’re at home quite allot!
1️⃣ Create a Routine for Self-Care
Self-care is often the first thing neglected by busy mums yet it can really help with out overall wellbeing! So start with something small and set a time to do it everyday! It can be anything you like so long as it’s for you! Take a bath, meditate, write in a journal but whatever you choose make it a non-negotiable part of your day!
2️⃣ Physical Activity at Home
Exercise has been shown to significantly reduce symptoms of depression. Find ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily life, even if you can’t get out to the gym! This could be a short yoga session during a child’s nap time, a dance party with your kids in the living room, or even simple stretching exercises while watching TV. The goal is to move your body in a way that feels good to you!
3️⃣ Digital Detox
Limiting screen time can have a positive impact on mental health. Try to set aside periods during the day when you consciously put away digital devices. Use this time to rough house with your kids, watch them ok the swings, colour at the dinning table! If you were willing to sit for half an hour flicking through social media or watching TV then why not spend it talking to your kids and building amazing relationships.
