A whole lot of slaving away behind a computer and a whole lot of content collection. If anyone dared to look at my phone it would just be hundreds of b-roll shots.

It’s not always a glamorous life, my office chair is often my best friend but the high is creating raw, honest and engaging content for my clients and seeing it connect with their community. That’s what it’s all about!

Social media doesn’t have to be confusing. If you keep it simple, it actually works really well.

First, make sure your bio makes sense.
Someone should land on your page and instantly know who you are, what you do, and how to contact you.

Then, decide on your 3 content pillars.
These are just your main topics. The things you talk about all the time.

For example:
Education
Your story
Client results

This is what stops you from sitting there thinking “what do I even post?”

Then, show up.
At least 3 times a week.
More if you can
but 3 is a really good place to start.

And don’t just post one type of content.

You need a mix:
Reels (talking to camera or simple b roll like clips of your day, your work, behind the scenes)
Carousels (slides like this)
Static posts
Stories

When you have these in place, everything feels easier.
You’re not guessing. You’re not overthinking. You’re just showing up with a plan.

And that’s when social media actually starts working for your business.

If you’re reading this thinking “this still feels like a lot”
 I get it.

That’s what I’m here for 💕

She's the reason that Wagtail Creative exists. Without that drive to provide for her and to be a role model, I would have never chased my dream of owning a business.

What does a social media manager actually do? One of the most asked questions I get. 🧐

SMM isn't simply pressing schedule on a post. It's all that comes before and after that moment.

It's looking hard at the brand we are managing and creating a strategy that's going to get results. It's coming up with ideas and content calendars and in some packages, it's capturing the content ourselves.

It's communicating with the brand to ensure everyone's on the same page, everyone is updated and ticking along.

It's coming up with authentic captions, reading over them again and again to ensure there's no mistakes. It's choosing the right sounds, branding, angles. It's operating as the brand and replying to comments, reaching out to their audience and making sure the account is active.

It's looking back at insights, tracking what's working and what's not. It's trial and error. It's using strategy and data to inform the content.

I'm not just here to "schedule posts", I'm here to grow your business through social media. I'm just as important as a CFO, a HR officer or a CEO. All have integral roles within a business.

So if you don't have a social media manager yet, now's the time. DM me "DISCOVERY" to find out more ✹

Sounds harsh but it's true... đŸ€«

I love this quote from Andrew Carnegie and he really points out an internal battle business owners have. Naturally, you don't want to let go of the reigns, you want to handle each piece of your business, to have that control and to know that everything is operating as planned.

But refusing to let go is stopping you from growing and expanding. It's stopping you having a great business. You're only one person, you can't do it all.

So delegate your social media, hire a social media manager to handle it all for you. And then? See how great a business you can really grow!

Just know that behind every post I create for you, is a song.

Cringy? Maybe. Effective? Yes.

I mean I think I’m still cool. Unapologetically filming myself to get content, to then grow my business and support my family? That’s cool to me.

Take this as your sign to get your b-roll
 without apologising.

How do we find that balance of building momentum on social media... without burning out.

Take a look at the core aspects of your business and therefore your socials. I recommend breaking your business into three core pillars and building your content from there. This means you're always hitting the point whilst simplifying the process.

Notice what's working and what's not. Your insights show you this explicitly. Take on board that feedback and bring it home!

Ahhh my beautiful must haves. The programs that I literally could not run this business without. I hands down recommend these to everyone if they are running any kind of social media page, whether you're a social media manager and coach like myself, or a business owner.

1. Canva:
This is the holy grail for anything graphic design. It's super easy to use with a free option or a premium option. I use the premium as I create brand kits within Canva to allow for a better flow, however you could totally get by with the free version if you memorise your branding. There are an abundance of templates you can use (posters, social media posts, invites, stories etc) that mean you don't have to reinvent the wheel each time and don't have to be a tech savvy whiz to look professional. 100000/10 would recommend.

2. Capcut/Edits:
To be honest, these two are very similar. I would probably say that Edits is more user friendly and the direct connection it has with Instagram is very desirable. It's super easy to overlay trending sounds within the app and its entirely free. Capcut is probably better in the sense that it allows you to do fancier edits, but you have to pay for a premium subscription to remove the watermark. If you're new to editing I'd go with Edits. Edits - 8/10, Capcut 7/10

3. Asana/Notion/Excel:
Okay, I've really bundled a lot into one point here so bear with me. Asana and Notion are project management tools that both offer free versions that are jam packed with features. Excel allows you to create spreadsheets to track your project management. I put this point in here as I highly recommend planning your social media. I plan my clients' posts a month in advance and use Notion to communicate this with them. There are some incredible templates and tutorials out there to show you how to set up your Asana and Notion to easily plan and track your social media. If that sounds too technical, trusty old Excel does the job... but you will need a Microsoft 365 subscription. Asana (best for team management) - 8/10, Notion (best for social media planning - 8.5/10, Excel - 8/10

Let me know below how you go with trying these out!!! 💕
