Sitting here having a coffee and reading this message from Hillarys Primary School, and I have to admit, this one got me. 🤍
40 years ago, when I was 11 years old, my dad was the DJ at my primary school disco.
I can still remember that feeling in the room. The electricity, the kids dancing, everyone having the best time, and the teachers standing around pretending they weren't dancing too. 😂
There was just something about it.
I remember watching Dad behind the decks, playing the music and somehow bringing that whole room together.
My dad is the reason I became a DJ.
It became my dream.
Fast forward 40 years and I've now had the privilege of being the DJ for my own daughter's primary school discos at Hillarys Primary for the past five years.
There's something pretty special about that. Being an 11-year-old kid watching my dad DJ my primary school disco, then all these years later, standing behind the decks myself and doing the same thing for my daughter's school.
And somehow, without ever planning it, life completed this beautiful little circle. ❤️
To receive this message from the school means more to me than I can really put into words.
Karee and I have loved being part of these nights, watching the kids dance, laugh and make memories of their own.
Maybe somewhere on one of those dance floors is another 11-year-old watching the DJ and thinking...
"I'd love to do that one day."
Thank you Hillarys Primary School. This one will stay with me. 🤍
