A little reminder that I have, in fact, written a book. 😂

Whispers in Your Mind is a collection of 15 short, unsettling psychological thriller stories, plus haikus.

They’re quick reads, so you can squeeze one in between the toddler naps. That’s how I wrote them.

A little writing-room treat 📚🕯️

I recently bought this Edgar Allan Poe candle from the Paddywax Library series for my writing room. I’d found it at a few different stores, so I did the very practical thing and added it to a few carts to compare the total price. 😂

Little Crooked House - Dromedary, Tasmania ended up being the cheapest once postage was included, so that’s where I ordered it from.

What I wasn’t expecting was for it to arrive beautifully gift wrapped, with a lovely handwritten note from Robyn thanking me for supporting a small business. She even mentioned that this particular candle was her favourite one. ❤️

It’s such a small thing, but I thought it was worth sharing. In a world where so much shopping is very automated, that little bit of personal effort made opening the parcel feel a bit special.

And now it has a new home on my bookshelf, where I think it fits in rather nicely. 📚

Thank you, Robyn and Little Crooked House, for the lovely surprise. Supporting a small business is always nice, but it’s even nicer when you can feel the person behind the parcel.

It's been a bit quiet around here this week.

We're having one of those weeks. Everyone's running on very little sleep, and my brain is barely functioning.

So I've been a little quieter than usual.

I'm still here. I'm just temporarily running on low battery. 😂

Hopefully I'll be back to full capacity soon.

My son has been asking to go to Bunnings for days.

So this morning, I finally took him. 😂

He got his toy hammer, we wandered around the aisles… and somehow I came home with a plant for my writing room.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

We had a bit of a rough night with a restless toddler, so we'll be taking it easy today, but there will be a few goodies for Dad along the way. I might take our boy out for a bit so Dad can have some alone time; I know that's the only thing he really wants 😉

I was doing one of those random surveys for a few extra dollars today and came across a question I wasn't expecting:

What kind of bin person are you? 😂

Apparently, these are the options:

🗑️ The Last-Minute Runner – always rushing the bins out as the rubbish truck comes down the street.

🗑️ The Bin-Fluencer – leads the bin-night routine and knows exactly which bin goes out.

🗑️ The Bin Helper – puts the bins out or brings them in for others.

🗑️ The Bin Rule Breaker – doesn't think it really matters.

🗑️ The Bin Protector – doesn't want anyone else touching their bin.

🗑️ The Bin-Follower – never knows which bin goes out and just follows the neighbours.

Does anyone else have this problem? 😂

We get our groceries delivered, and I normally choose a time slot that lines up with my son's nap.

Well… this week there wasn't a suitable time slot, so we had to have them delivered while we were out on our morning adventure.

Big mistake. 😂

I came home to discover that the local crows had found our groceries and decided to help themselves to the bread.

And by "help themselves", I mean completely massacre it. 🐦🍞

This is the THIRD time this has happened.

Last time they got into our choccy biscuits. 😭

Anyone else's local wildlife helping themselves to the shopping? 😂

If you’re a Perth parent looking for somewhere to escape with the kids, I might have found your next little outing. 💜

I’ve been visiting Lavender Estate for a while now, and somehow this little lavender farm has become one of those places that holds so many memories for our family.

It started when I was a brand-new mum, desperate to get out of the house with my crying newborn. Fast-forward a couple of years and my toddler now happily chats about one thing in particular…

The purple tractor. 😂💜

I’ve finally written about some of our adventures there. The lavender scones, the playground, the purple tractor, the gin (obviously 😉), and why this place has become such a special spot for us.

🥹 A proud Mum moment.

I don't talk to my son about my book all that much. I've mentioned it from time to time, and he knows that Mama writes, but he's still little.

Yesterday, I had my laptop open and was sharing something about my book on Facebook when he spotted the screen.

He pointed at it and said:

"That's Mama's book!" ❤️

And my heart just about melted.

It's such a small thing, but it made me ridiculously proud.

One day, hopefully he'll understand just how much that little book means to me.

For now, I'll happily take the fact that he knows:

Mama wrote a book. 📚❤️
