Winter Carrots are the best carrots.

They are super sweet and have just something about them. Another low maintenance crop that you just need to give some feed once a month and by the start of summer you'll have a beautiful yield of carrots.

About a week before I planted these i mixed some compost and worm castings in to enrich the soil. Because that is the key to getting the most from your crop.

But if you don't have time for that - grab the best veggie soil mix you can afford and start there.

Head to your local plant shop and grab some today, and reap the rewards come spring.

And as always if you have any questions ask below πŸ‘‡πŸΌ πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

But let's be honest. There's always more room right?

My favourite Perth local garden centre is for all things native, and wonderful staff who are always there to help.

What can you manage? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

For a long time I thought I had to do everything right away to make this whole 'sustainablility' thing worthwhile.

A full crop of fruit and veg to feed my family
A big compost bin
Recycling or reusing everything in my life

It honestly stopped me, because I thought... where am I going to find the time for that?

And that's when I started small. 2 years ago I planted my herb garden. Last year I added some more raised beds and started recycling my containers. This year, I bought a worm farm and expanded my vege garden.

And you know my Chronic Illness has been hard, but this is a valuable lesson it has taught me.

I am by no means an expert - but what I can tell you is that I evolved slowly. Added things in as I could manage them. As my schedule and energy allowed. If it started becoming too much, I rolled it back, or heaven forbid - I even asked for help.

And that my friend is how I got to where I am. We have plans to evolve our urban vegetable garden in spring 🌼🌱 and start producing more of what we eat.

So what can you manage right now? Tell me below. Id love to be a part of your journey.

Sunday = Strawberry Day! πŸ“πŸ“πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Get your strawberries in the ground before the end of autumn for a wonderful spring/summer yield.

No more nasty pesticides on your Strawbs. Thinking about the satisfaction of picking them straight off the bush and tasting their sweetness with no worries of chemicals. Yummm. Great for little hands too!

They don't like touching the ground and are more susceptible to fungus so grab some straw to pop under them when you plant... It's the reason they have their name!

If you're new to this gardening business like me, then follow on as I fill up my urban backyard with home grown goodness!

It's Garlic πŸ§„ season!

But get in quick. Planting season is almost done! It only takes 10 mins, and I know your ADHD brain has been putting it off 🀣

Great garden item for my ME/CFS friends as this is a low energy, high reward crop.

It makes me feel like I've accomplished something!
