*** Announcement - God Said Tech-No ***
We’ve been getting a lot of questions from people about what’s happening with God Said Tech-No at this year’s Blaze, so we thought it was important that we let everyone know.
God Said Tech-No will, unfortunately, not be a part of this year’s Blazing Swan, and it’s highly unlikely that it will return again.
As a result of a change of leadership in the camp, new people have come in with their own ideas, and they want to stamp a new identity on GSN. We had hoped that we could still be involved in some capacity as we have been since the beginning, but this is not our decision to make.
Paul and I have been involved in GSN since 2012 and the first ever event up in the sand dunes in Lancelin. We’ve known Lewis for over 20 years and he will always be someone who we respect and admire as a friend, and the creator of what has become the longest standing, and most well known, sound camp at Blaze.
Paul and I have been fortunate to survive many incarnations of the leadership team at GSN, and have at various points been move involved than others. We haven’t always seen eye-to-eye with everyone involved, but we’ve always been respectful and stayed true to our values of quality music from start to finish, the rights DJ’s playing in the right spot on well curated line ups, and most importantly of all - putting on one hell of a party!
We’ve helped set up and pack down, we’ve ran our own nights, we’ve fund raised and participated in fundraisers, and at times outright paid for all of the sound equipment just to make sure the party still goes on. In spite of this, we’ve often been treated as outsiders, despite being the only crew who have been involved consistently from the very first event.
From playing sets for 2 days straight on the playa in the wind and the rain, to walking across the marshland bridges in the dark to get to the scaffolding and starting up the stage when nobody else was even playing, moving inland to the pyramid and playing extended sets across multiple nights (sometimes more than once a night!), to more recently being ring masters in the Big Top, we’ve helped to create (and shared) so many core memories of Blaze whilst making lasting friendships with incredible people as a result of the magic that GSN created.
One of the things we have enjoyed most is giving opportunities to up and coming talent in the scene and watching them shine on the God Said Tech-No stage with their tunes pumping through Ilusha’s F1’s - Jaydream, Aaron M, Girl London, Fat N Filthy, Bruno Mppm, Dale Debeljak, Micah, Bubba Ganesh, Amod3us, DMC & Scratch, Heavy T, Baddess, Dan Zina, Nish Mann, Dom FX, Gavin Hutchings, Rebecca Tirmazi and Tymarl..hopefully we haven’t missed anyone.
Whilst we won’t be playing at GSN or running God Said Tech-No, you can still catch Paul at the following:
Fri night - FATT Camp party - 9pm-10pm
Fri night - Closing the effigy - 12am-1am
Sat Night - Funbrella (Sp***ge Takeover) - Closing set
I personally won’t be attending Blaze any more, but I’d still encourage people who want to experience it to do so as it can be a magical, transformative experience.
Special mention to Ilusha for always bringing his best and helping us to create that God Said Tech-No magic. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you to everyone who has danced with us for the last decade and more.
God Said Tech-No will live on forever in our memories.
