Kiso Suzuki Tomson Stratocaster MIJ 1970's Sunburst $600

Built in the mid 1970s by the Kiso Suzuki factory in Japan. The Tomson brand had several periods of production and this is the first and best IMHO. Made for the domestic Japanese market and predominantly sold via mail order they were not expensive guitars but are very underrated. This guitar is rock solid with a straight maple neck, lovely fretboard and a playability that is almost mindblowing. The action is low, perfect level and plays flawlessly without any buzzing or flat spots all up the neck. I had a real "they don't make em like they use to" moment when I first played it. Pickups are vintage ceramics that are responsive to playing style and unmistakably 70s. Is in very good condition with only minor marks but does have a bit of bubbling and a couple splits in the finish. Electrics all working as they should. Frets are good, level and polished and the set up is outstanding (9-42 strings).

Pickup and inspection is available at Point Frederick NSW (1 hour from Sydney) or I can courier Australia wide well packaged with optional insurance. International shipping available to USA, UK, Europe and NZ.

Founder Daion DLP-35 Custom Black/Gold 1978 Made in Japan $600
The Founder brand was part of the Daion distribution network and the guitars were made by either Dyna Gakki (Tokai) or Yamaki according to the info available online. Founder is the sister brand of Joo Dee. This is a custom model and is a well made example of mid to late 70s Japanese craftmanship. Is in very good condition overall and plays flawlessly. Is all original. Frets and neck (straight) are in excellent condition: polished and level electronics all working fine and it sounds fantastic. Plenty of sustain and grip and really piercing tone that's killer for garage rock. Weighs about 3.6kg. Comes in a vintage padded gigbag and with a good setup ready to go.

Pickup and inspection is available at Point Frederick NSW (1 hour from Sydney) or I can courier Australia wide well packaged with optional insurance. International shipping available on request to USA, UK, Europe and NZ.

Korg GT-60X Quartz Guitar Tuner Vintage 1990s $39

The Korg GT-60X guitar/ bass tuner is the most accurate tuner available in a super compact package. Quartz crystal oscillator circuitry produces the highest accuracy and reliability. Bypass jack lets you plug into an amp without disconnecting the tuner. The lighted meter makes it easy to read under dim stage lighting. The Korg GT-60X is easy to use and offers excellent cost/performance value in the Korg tradition. Operates on battery or AC power. Is a quality tuner that I still use today but I have 2. Good for setting intonation and for most stringed instruments. Was about $70 new from memory back in the day.

1975 John Bennet LP-550S Sunburst Made in Japan Nakai Kasuga RARE $725
John Bennet was a short lived label in the mid 1970s from the small Nakai Gakki in Japan. I believe some of the guitars were made OEM by Kawai and in this case Kasuga. Guitar was posted on several vintage Japanese guitar forums and Kasuga seemed to be most likely manufacturing factory according to the experts. The label was a quality driven line of mid to higher end guitars. Not a budget operation. This guitar sold for 55,000 yen in 1975 and is a rare bird. Features Mahogany neck and back and flame maple top. The pickups are "Custom Made" 1975 Maxon. Unusual very good star tuning pegs and Japanese built original hardware. The guitar is completely original. Condition is very good with only minor marks and scratches, minimal fretware, straight neck and no problems. Plays beautifully, one of if not the best bolt on version LP style guitar I have owned. Pickups sound brilliant and it plays really sweet with level low action. Set up well with 10-46 strings. 50 years old this year and will go strong for many more if cared for.

Pickup and inspection is available at Point Frederick NSW (1 hr from Sydney) or I will ship Australia wide well packaged. International shipping is available to the USA, Canada, UK, NZ and Western Europe.

Cobran FG-0 HSS Superstrat 1995 Deluxe Ash top Made in Japan $480 "SOLD"
Cobran guitars appeared on the Japanese domestic market 1990s. The brand was founded by Itaru Kanno as a private label of the Chushin Gakki factory, an OEM manufacturer of Japanese Jackson, Charvel, Robin models and OEM products for some local retail chains. The Cobran brand did not last long, in 1995 Itaru founded his own brand Caparison together with the Kyowa Shokai trading company, but continued to work for Chushin until the contract expired in 1998. After Itaru's departure, Cobran did not last long, and Chushin soon closed it.

The guitars are very light, ergonomic, with a deep horn cutout that opens up the playing space up to the highest positions. The heel, although rectangular, is tilted. The neck is very thin, perhaps one of the thinnest necks that has ever been produced by anyone. The thickness of the neck in the area of the first fret is only 16 mm. The neck is flat with 15" radius with 24 frets. The guitar bodies were made of poplar or linden at different times. There was also a special version (this guitar) with an ash-veneered top and a deluxe version, wavy maple. In this case, the entire back was painted black. This the F-G0 differed from all other guitars in its one-piece neck with a straight headstock, a la Fender. The fingerboard was rosewood, the markers were dots along the upper edge of the fingerboard. The frets are jumbo. The guitar is equipped with a humbucker in the bridge position and two singles. Strat-type tremolo, on six supports. The pickups are self branded of good quality. The tuning machines are durable, they hold the tuning well, work evenly and smoothly. The pickups are of medium power, bright on a clean sound and with a pleasant crunchy sound. Guitar is in good condition with plenty of minor bumps and bruises but no major damage. There is a little fretware 1st-7th fret. Plays flawlessly all up the neck with a low action. Has been well set up. Comes with tremolo arm. Japanese quality for a great price!

Pickup and inspection is available at Point Frederick NSW (1 hr from Sydney) or I will ship Australia wide well packaged. International shipping is available to the USA, Canada, UK, NZ and Western Europe.
