Our very own Billy-Jo Shoveller has been nominated for a 2026 ARIA Award 🏆❤️🖤💛

What an incredible honour to see this composition nominated at the ARIA Awards 2026 for Best Use of an Australian Recording in an Advertisement for Tourism WA’s “Walking On A Dream” campaign.

A truly special collaboration with Empire of the Sun’s Luke Steele, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra & Helena Czajka, bringing Billy-Jo’s recording to life in a campaign celebrating the beauty and spirit of Western Australia.

We are truly grateful to Tourism Western Australia for the opportunity to be part of the Walking On A Dream campaign. It was fantastic to help showcase Western Australia’s unique beauty and experiences while sharing Billy-Jo’s culture.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved in this incredible piece of work — and a very special thank you to Helena Czajka, who composed this beautiful piece and made the whole collaboration happen. Your vision, creativity and dedication brought something truly special to life. 🖤

Something special is beginning in Port Hedland.

This August, Desert Wave Records is proud to welcome artists, industry, partners and community to our Inaugural Desert Wave Records Gathering.

Over four days, we’ll come together to share knowledge, strengthen connections and create meaningful pathways into the music industry through artist development, collaboration, governance and live performance.

Whether you’re an emerging artist looking to take the next step, an industry professional wanting to share your knowledge, or a community member passionate about First Nations music and culture, there’s a place for you at the Gathering.

Desert Wave Records are proud to be part of the Town of Port Hedland’s 80th Anniversary of the 1946 Pilbara Strike.

The commemorative walk will begin at Desert Wave Records Studio, 88 Anderson Street, Port Hedland.

Featuring live performances at Port Hedland Community Centre from Desert Wave artists:

Mr. Widdy: 5:55pm
Until Closing Time: 7:15pm
Yurti Band: 7:45pm

Free event. Everyone is welcome.

Our School Holiday Program kicks off next week 🎶

Join us at Desert Wave Records Studio in Port Hedland for a series of hands-on workshops designed to inspire creativity and build real studio skills.

📅 Monday 13 April
Artist Studio Workshop
Artists of Desert Wave Records will be introduced to the new recording studio & equipment
12pm–5pm

📅 Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 April
Youth Workshops
Port Hedland youth will be taught songwriting, studio basics & equipment usage
10am–3pm

Lunch provided each day.

Last week Family Shoveller Band brought music and a whole lot of energy into the Desert Wave Records studio in Port Hedland 🐪

A great afternoon watching young people step up, sing loudly and make noise with the band! 🎤🎸

Huge thanks to Julyardi for bringing the kids and community in and to our 2026 youth workshop funding partners Hancock Iron Ore BHP Pilbara Minerals Rio Tinto for helping make these opportunities possible.

Huge congratulations to for being nominated in three WAM Award categories this year.

Not only are the boys up for Indigenous Act of the Year, but Jordan Wright has been recognised for Bassist of the Year and for Drummer/Percussionist of the Year.

The Desert Wave family could not be prouder. This is Bidyadanga talent, Kimberly stories and family legacy shining on a state stage.

Thank you to and for inviting Desert Wave’s to be part of The Strelley Mob: Pilbara Strike Exhibition Opening.

It was an honour to help share stories of Nyangumarta Country through music, culture, and community. Congratulations to all artists and curators on such a powerful celebration of history, resilience, and the legacy of the 1946 Pilbara Strike.
