Morning. Monday morning it is, though a public holiday where I am.
Anyone gaming regularly at the moment?
In a campaign? Getting a weekly or monthly session in? I am not and it's starting to bum me out.

So. D&D has gone behind a paywall. Which means that if you don't have the sub, you aren't playing with your friends online.
Now, I gave up online gaming. I spend all day in front of a PC, I'm not spending my nights.

This is a classic video game model. You pay 70 bucks or whatever, but then you pay ten more a month. And if you don't, you can't play. Go to hell, you poor bastard.

I feel theres a lot wrong with this. I know the physical books will survive, but I think a lot of what I like about RPGs is that the cost to entry is low. I ran like 5 5e campaigns and I did two of them before I even had a rulebook. It's all up online so it's even cheaper.

Pencil, paper, game. Boom.

I've pretty much given up on 5e as a game and Hasbro as an organisation. I just don't really want any part of this. But I also completely understand. D&D is D&D, for some, anything rpg that isn't D&D is, somehow, joking.

Where are you sitting? Does this affect you? Have I misunderstood it? Are you glad that a lot of the game is automated?

Weight in!

(Also I think you guys can start threads. Feel free.)

So, hey, we've been gone a long time and I'm a techno luddite. I didn't know how to do the page again.

So, most of you will know me, my name is Christian. Along with Scott 'Razors' Fraser, we're Crow Land. We did two books for d20 fantasy. Wickerpunk and Suckerpunk.

Finished a shaky first draft is our next project, which will be a Powered by the Apocalypse style thing, which might be called 'Lamplighters.' A sort of monster-hunting folk-horror thing set in a fantastic post-Civil War England thing. Been reading the Katherine Briggs for that.

But, Scott and I both play a lot of games. We like to talk about them all, and this gives me something fun to think about.

This place is basically just somewhere we can keep in touch, debate matters of the day like the sophisticates we are, and talk nerdy with other smart nerds who won't scream WOKE every three seconds like clubbed baby seals.

Tell your friends.
