The future of the National Second Division is still up in the air as there has been no announcement made by Football Australia about whether it is still going ahead in 2025, and if it is, in which format.
Rumours circulating last week was that Football Australia were not keen for the NSD to commence with 8 Teams and they were considering a Championship style set up with the winners of each State playing of with one another at the conclusion of each State's Season.
This last option is not favoured by the 8 NSD Foundation Clubs.
South Melbourne President Nick Maikousis was interviewed by Rythmos Radio last night in the hope that he could shed some light on this issue.
Key points from this interview were that he and the other 7 foundation clubs had signed a non disclosure agreement with Football Australia and as such he could not comment on the outcomes of any meetings held with them.
That the 8 Foundation Clubs had signed agreements and paid for entry into a National Second Division and not a Championship League.
That his Club , South Melbourne, are gearing up for the commencement if the NSD in 2025.

As such we all await a final decision from Football Australia regarding the NSD

The future of the National Second Division is up in the air with Football Australia struggling to attract more than the 8 Clubs that have been already accepted.
FA have not at this stage definitively confirmed that the NSD will kick of in 2025, and this has left the 8 Clubs that have been accepted in limbo as they planned their 2024 Season in terms of player recruitment, Club Operations and expenditure around being a part of the NSD in 2025.
Interesting times ahead!
