Proto Exotica returns to Angel Music Bar for another late-night session joined by Tokyo Chug Lord and Swedish sweetheart/deep digger .

Courtney Bailey is a DJ, producer and party organiser from Japan, now based in Berlin. She first made her mark founding the underground rave in Shinkiba, before gaining wider attention with her 2023 debut EP Soleil on . In 2025, she released her debut 12” I Wanna Feel You on Naarm label — a hazy, acid-leaning record pairing experimental production with bilingual vocals, followed by her floaty + lush debut LP ‘In Dream’ via . As a DJ, Courtney has played across Europe and Asia, including Panorama Bar (Berlin), WOMB (Tokyo), Klymax (Bali) and Fuji Rock Festival, with sets defined by warmth, tension and an intuitive sense of flow.

Richard Fribert is a Swedish digger and selector based in Paris, known for his deep crates and wide-angle approach to dance music. Drawing heavily from rare ’80s + ‘90s global grooves, his sets move freely between balearic, boogie, disco and new beat, folding in influences from bhangra, zouk, MPB, axé, Italo, electro, hip house and beyond. He is the head of the music discovery project Quartier Groove alongside , a member of the collective, and the producer behind Sueño Almohade (Rework), distributed by . Outside the booth, Fribert is also active as an event organiser between Paris and Copenhagen.

Practically galloping to the end of the year with one final dance at the most beloved, most intimate, and recently re-freshed Angel Upstairs 🐎 Warmup by yours truly, then has got a pocketful for her debut club set right before we welcome THE to steer the party until sunrise 🌅

JAMES FALCO:

Based on the oh-so-lush Italian Riviera, James is one of the forces behind some of the region’s most electrifying events, like the widely appreciated and .sanremo festival.

His sets are a kaleidoscope of moods and tempos that shift through genres like house, reggae, disco, downtempo, and breakbeat. An unshakable love for soulful grooves and lilting melodies makes for sessions that move beyond mere sound and seep into the senses. You’ll find yourself carried by the basslines and lifted by euphoric vocals in a spell of vibrant nostalgic and forward-facing rhythms.

In the past couple of years, James has become a regular across Europe’s underground parties and venues, which led to regular visits to Brazil and a soon-to-come Asia debut. Now he’s bringing those good vibes down under, and we couldn’t be more stoked to welcome him with open arms to Angel for the Australian leg of his journey 🫂
