I want to thank the wonderful feedback I've received for this new series.
Managing neural pain and mental wellbeing is something immensely important to me.
Whether the positive results come from meditation, the binaural beats, or a combination of both, I'm glad that they work for so many.

In 2017, I survived a stroke, caused by a chiropractic adjustment. While I am mostly recovered, I’m left with diminished sensation in one side, and some residual neural pain.

Anyone who has experienced neural pain knows it can be hard to describe. It isn’t always an ache or a sting. Sometimes it feels like burning pins and needles, other times like sudden electric shocks. It can be hard to locate and even harder to treat. Unlike the “warning signals” of tissue damage, neuropathic pain is a malfunction of the nervous system itself. That’s why it feels so different, lingers so long, and often resists conventional treatment.

Pain medications offer little relief and massage provides only temporary respite. Personally, what truly helped me most was sound….specifically, binaural beats.

Binaural beats occur when two slightly different tones are played, one in each ear. Your brain processes the difference between them as a subtle rhythm that you don’t exactly hear but perceive. When that difference falls in the theta range (around 4–7 Hz), the brain naturally begins to synchronise with it. Theta brainwaves are linked to deep relaxation, meditation, and reduced perception of pain. Listening to theta binaural beats can quiet racing thoughts, ease tension, and create the mental calm needed for the body to rest and recover.

What I noticed, however, was that many binaural tracks weren’t optimised for pain. Some even distracted from their own purpose by adding unnecessary elements. So, after careful study and experimentation, I’ve developed my own series of tracks: The Painwave Series. The first release is designed and optimised specifically for managing neural pain. More tracks with other therapeutic goals are on the way.

Research suggests that about 45 minutes of theta exposure brings the best results for pain relief, and a tempo of 55 BPM is ideal for relaxation. For maximum effect, I recommend listening with headphones.

More tracks will be released in the near future, and I hope they bring others the same comfort and healing they have brought me.

For those just starting out, finding your team early could be the most important step you take in shaping a sustainable and fulfilling career.

The film and music industries share many universal traits around the world, but the experience of working in them can differ greatly depending on where you are. Here in Australia, these industries are relatively small compared to the USA, UK, Europe, or China. That smaller scale means creatives here

..... for the introverted creatives out there: if you do your best work in isolation, that’s OK. You’re not alone.….even if you prefer to work that way.

Despite spending my early years performing, I think it’s fair to say I’m an introvert. And in my work as a music producer, that trait has served me well. Production can be a solitary profession, especially when consistency, focus, and efficiency begin to really matter. Growing up, I’d spend ho...

Writer’s block isn’t a wall. It’s just a pause. A reminder to stay curious, keep going, and wiggle your toes

Ever woken up in the middle of the night to find your arm completely numb? You can’t move your hand or feel a thing. It’s a bit scary, right? What do you do? You rub it, shake it, wiggle your fingers, and wait for the feeling to come back. You don’t panic. You just keep moving until things flo...

….those early experiences….the goosebumps, the butterflies…ignited a lifelong love affair with music. And while that world may be behind me, those feelings remain my compass. They guide everything I create. My mission now is simple. To ignite those same feelings in as many people as I can.

I started my life in music learning to play the trumpet in primary school. One of my earliest memories is from a small incident at a music workshop. Just three of us, probably around eight years old, sat in a row with our trumpets. The teacher asked each of us to play and hold a different note, form

At the end of the day, the music we create becomes a snapshot of our lives….how we see the world, how we interact with it. Whether you’re writing on a beat-up, three-string guitar or scoring with the latest state-of-the-art music software, the goal is the same: to make good music. Music that moves people.

When I was a student, my friends and I would often wander into the city during our lunch breaks. For a while, there was a busker who appeared regularly in the mall. His name was Adam. His instrument? A severely damaged acoustic guitar he’d salvaged from a rubbish bin. He’d patched the body with ...

In the digital age, we have endless tracks and instruments at our fingertips. It’s tempting to stack sound on sound in search of richness and depth. But is that the only path to a full-sounding production?

How many layers do you really need in your music? In the digital age, we have endless tracks and instruments at our fingertips. It’s tempting to stack sound on sound in search of richness and depth. But is that the only path to a full-sounding production? No one would accuse Holst’s The Planets
