TODAY WE ROCK.

Today has been bubbling behind the scenes for some time at BDK HQ, it’s here and we’re so fu***ng g’d up about it. This will be an all time rock show. Please be mindful that this event is being run entirely by Keechy, Sid and our beautiful friends and family, we anticipate a chiller of a crowd as usual but want to just make clear that the space needs to be taken care of, this joint has been around since 1922 and has a heap of in history behind it. It’s a super special place within the Preston community and we don’t want to be the ones to f**k it up. Please be respectful of the hall and each other !! If this goes well it’s literally new-venue-unlocked. Let us or the bar staff know if you see any dickheadery.

Big ups everyone who bought a record, caught a show, said g’day, f**ked w us, showed support and busted it down whatever style, friend or foe.

Bigger ups to the countless amazingly talented artists of all trades we’ve come across in the past year, it never fails to astonish me what comes out of our freaky scene. It astonishes me more that some of them put their trust in us to help them out.

And more personally, biggest ups to Pearny, the better half of this enterprise and potentially the most talented person I’ve ever met. His drip insane too.

We are going to go fu***ng crazy next year.

ATTENZIONE! ATTENZIONE! MEANJIN BEASTS AGOOGOOLA AKA ARUGULA .mp3 RELEASE HIT EP ‘LUST AND THE COVERS’ WALL TO WALL GARAGE-PSYCH FUN FOR YOUR PERSONAL INDULGENCE.

“Arugula have spent the last two years playing shows in and around Brisbane. While also venturing interstate to NSW and VIC in support of their debut album, their first 2 EPs and a bunch of single releases. The band have had the pleasure of supporting many notable acts including The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds, Mildlife, Zia McCabe, Nice Biscuit and (W.I.T.C.H this November) many more.

The band’s new release is a four track expedition featuring two new original songs “No Hand”, a Van Morrison-esque 60’s pop ode to leaving a lover in the past and moving on up to bigger and better experiences and “A Unicorn” a track that sees the band venture into faster garage/psych territory taking inspiration from the raucous sounds of Thee Oh Sees and 60s pop icons The Troggs, The Rolling Stones and The Kingsmen. Additionally, the B-side of the EP features two cover songs that the band played while touring their “Roquette Music” album tour. “Night Time” originally performed by The Strangeloves is a band favourite to jam out live with its infectious beat and longing lyrics, while the band close out the release with a fuzzy cover of Count Five’s “Psychotic Reaction” which features the band’s lead guitarist Lachlan B take lead vocals for the first time.

Arugula are touring the EP this September and October with four dates in QLD and NSW, before supporting Zambian zam-rock Icons W.I.T.C.H this November in Brisbane and Bangalow.”

Fresh music from up and coming Eora outfit !!! Capturing that no frills, dancy fun garage sound that’s brewing in Sydney.

Bugg Music are buzzing around spreading the pollen and doing their best to avoid webs. They’ve dropped their garage-pop hit ‘Dumpster Baby’ today on Bandcamp, a taste from their eminent EP ‘Very Sick, Very Cute’—my thoughts exactly.

You’ll be needing more than Mortien to keep these critters at bay, this is just the beginning…….

We’ve only gone and done it. have landed at BDK HQ in vinyl form—they’re begging to enter ur ear holes and put down roots (with permission obviously).

This album has been on my heavy rotation for months it strikes a beautiful sweet spot in my taste, bit of a blend of alt-country and garage punk? Very reluctant to say… but, I can’t really find too too much out there like it. Real music enjoyers are really gonna f*cks with this one.

We have a super limited amount of these puppies on the website (bdkrecords.com) it’s a lucky dip as to the colour you’ll get to add some excitement to the whole ordeal! Pretty sure we’re the only ones in Aus with this so snap em up while you can.
