Married young. Finally divorced. Turning thirty ... A witty rom-com for all fans of Sally Thorne and Beth O’Leary.

Makayla has many regrets: a Chiko Roll impulse buy, not visiting the Big Pineapple and marrying her high-school dud.

Now, newly divorced, determined to hold on to her independence and facing the Big Three-O, Makayla makes a list of all the things she missed out on while her friends were single and running amok in their twenties.

But when her one-night stand turns up again, and a revenge plot on her ex spirals out of control, she has to decide if some things are worth missing. And if Makayla can’t sort herself out before her birthday, she might face the biggest regret of her life.

A fresh and feisty romantic comedy about what happens when you meet someone special before truly knowing yourself.

We are thrilled to share the news that Kelly Hellmrich, bass player of trail-blazing all-girl punk group Camp Cope, has sold world rights to her debut book to Penguin Random House, following enthusiastic interest from multiple publishers.

Kelly’s book blends cultural commentary, personal reflection and interviews with Australia’s most influential and impactful female and gender-diverse musicians to paint a picture of the music industry that will illuminate,
enrage and inspire. Traversing a broad range of topics including creative processes and starting out, sexual harassment and gender inequality, and motherhood, body image and representation, this book is about the artists
who have lifted each other up, held the door open for the next person, and built something better than what was there before.

Happy publication day to ’s stunning new novel, Foreign County - out today through

‘Deft, haunting and finely paced, Foreign Country is a devastating, engrossing story told with an assured voice. A novel that lingers.’ – Katherine Brabon

Estranged sistes—Eva and Elisabeta Novak—have not spoken since Eva’s young daughter, Gracie, was killed in a road accident. More than a decade later, and long after Eva has moved overseas, Elizabeta calls, insisting that Eva return home.

But when Eva arrives at her sister’s house, she discovers that Elizabeta is dead. Eva finds that she has been appointed the executor of Elizabeta’s estate, and as she undertakes the monumental task of clearing out the house, she comes to know her sister again through the objects and documents that she encounters. Through this process, Eva is forced to reckon with their shared history and the possibility that her mind cannot be trusted.

Foreign Country engages with themes of grief and loss, and the instability of memory. The novel explores the difficulty of coming to terms with conflicting accounts of the past and asks how well we ever really know the ones that we love, or our own past selves.

Marija Peričić is the author of Exquisite Co**se, which was shortlisted for the Davitt Award, and The Lost Pages, which won The Australian/Vogel’s LiteraryAward, was shortlisted for the Readings Prize and for which she was named a Sydney Morning Herald Best Young novelist.

Happiest book birthday to ’s marvellous Everglade: Rise of the Witch.
This is the first in an enchanting, funny and surprising middle grade series about courage and standing up for what you truly believe in.

“This funny, character-driven magical adventure had me utterly captivated” Readings

Everglade loves to hate witches. And as the daughter of the last witch, Wren Westerly is the most hated person in town. She can only imagine what would happen if the townspeople found out she can actually see magic ... even if she has no idea how to use it.

But when magic leads Wren to an enchanted necklace and reveals her secret, it’s not just Everglade chasing her. It’s the Eater - a terrifying creature who is determined to drain all magic from the world, and who really, really wants that necklace.

Leaving Everglade with nothing but the necklace, two accidental travel companions, and directions from a goat, Wren finds herself in a new and infinitely more magical world. And she’s the only one who can save it from the Eater. That is, if she can figure out magic. No pressure.

Welcome to the world of Everglade, where the truth about witches is tangled with lies and being yourself is the biggest risk of all.
