We will be tabling at Dog-Eared Darwin Print Fair this weekend! Along with friends from near and far. Come say hi 💖

What's that chicken reading? Why, it's only the latest issue of Voiceworks: 'Gutter'! Perhaps she got it in the mail, or at the library, or from one of our wonderful stockists – Chicky Institute, for instance, or the New International Chookshop.

One thing's for sure: she knows submissions are open for Voiceworks #139, 'Late', and that the best way to know what kind of writing to send (she has begun to experiment with poetic forms – a villanegg, a hento) is to read the mag!!

We can only imagine that once she is finished, she will visit the Voiceworks website and submit – sometime before the 16th of August, or the 23rd if she plans to send us artwork or comics.

Our launch next Friday won't just be your first chance to lay your hands on our new print issue... you will also get to read the inaugural issue of Voiceworks Strips: our new standalone section of serialised comics by Frankie Carroll (.rankie.c), Emily Sherlock, Sophie Wishart and Frances Gentile ( – whose work appears on the cover)!!

The issue was edited by our comics team, Sharyn Sale (), Stella Theocharides () and Eina Tubadeza () – designed by Stella – and printed by the riso wizards at , on four lovely paper colours. It will appear as an insert in every issue of #137: Gutter ~

Voiceworks is currently accepting applications to join our volunteer editorial committee!

We are looking for editors of ✒poetry✒ and 🎨comics🎨 for the print mag, as well as 💾online💾 editors, to help us as we revamp and relaunch Voiceworks Online.

'Like every other form of art, literature is no more and nothing less than a matter of life and death,' Mavis Gallant wrote; 'The only question worth asking about a story - or a poem, or a piece of sculpture, or a new concert hall - is, "is it dead or alive?"' We're looking for editors who are good at feeling for a piece's pulse - and, in the unlikely event of an emergency, performing CPR.
