Can you help support our Aussie Pearls?
💚💛

We need your financial help! The Australian Pearls 12-player team is headed for the 2025 VIRTUS World Basketball Championships which are to be held in Astana - Kazakhstan in June.

The Australian Pearls have only ever played in Australia twice in their entire existence – in 2019 & 2022. Every other tournament in their 32 years has been overseas with the team having played in Spain, Greece, Portugal, Japan, Brazil, Poland, Sweden, Italy, Ecuador, and France. Several of those nations more than once.

This international travel is very expensive, so all their campaigns cost a small fortune. The team has had great support from Basketball Australia and many supporters over the years but in truth the costs are mostly borne by the athletes. This tour is expected to cost in excess of $8000 per player.

We need your help to get the Pearls to Kazakhstan and to keep these amazing athletes competing on the world stage? Please donate now. Every dollar counts towards supporting our amazing young Australian women in realising their goal of representing Australia at the World Championships.

All donations are tax deductible! Please help at asf.org.au/donate/basketball-australia

To ensure all donations are directed to the Pearls, please add "Pearls Team" or "Pearls – player name" with a comment of support to the “Would you like your support displayed on the project page” section.

The Girls Showcase, an incredible day of action across 3 locations

Saturday 15th March - all day.

Celebrating girls in basketball on and off the court, players, referees and officials. The day also raising awareness and funds for an important cause

06/02/2025

On Saturday week, 15th February, the EDJBA will be promoting and celebrating girls' basketball with the fourth Girls Showcase!

All Bulleen-Templestowe Basketball Club, Darebin Basketball Association and Koonung Comets Basketball Club girls teams will be playing at Bulleen Templestowe Basketball Stadium, Darebin Community Sports Stadium and Doncaster Secondary College in Round 12, so that all 112 games across the 9 courts will be girls games. All other EDJBA clubs will also have at least one girls team playing at one of the three venues. The fixture is available on PlayHQ and here: https://edjba.com.au/weekly-venue-plan/

In addition to showcasing and celebrating girls’ basketball, the round will support the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). The BCNA is Australia’s leading breast cancer consumer organisation bringing together a network of over 120,000 individuals.

There are many ways teams can get involved in the showcase including purchasing pink socks and/or other merchandise through the BCNA website or donating through the link below. All funds raised from the Girls Showcase will help the BCNA to continue to ensure all Australians diagnosed with breast cancer receive the very best care, treatment and support.

All clubs can be involved in supporting the round and supporting the BCNA. We encourage players from all teams to wear pink socks on the day and supporters at all clubs to wear pink. Pink socks and other merchandise including scrunchies, shoe laces, lanyards, bucket hats, beanies, tattoos and drink coolers can be purchased prior to support the BCNA via this link: https://pinksportsday.bcna.org.au/store Check in the comments how to ensure that your purchase is recognised as associated with the EDJBA and your club.

Some BCNA merchandise will also be on sale on the day at the three venues, but stocks are limited so come early – items may not be available later in the day. We will also be selling special Girls Showcase Tshirts, and a small number of pink Molten basketballs, with all profits going to the BCNA. Details about this and more next week!

If you would like to, you can make a donation to our BCNA fundraising page here: https://bcna-pinksportsday-prod.azurewebsites.net/my-fundraising/2146/edjba

We look forward to your support of the Girls Showcase on 15th February!

Go get it Geckos 🦎 ⁣

A great morning spent meeting the team and a chance to watch them train ahead of the Asia-Pacific Deaf Basketball Championships. The championships held in Melbourne this year, start tomorrow Sunday 22nd September and finish on Sunday 29th September, all games played at the State Basketball Centre 🏀⁣

It’s been 15 years since the Geckos last represented Australia, it’s been a long time coming but this new team is set to give it their absolute best for their country and are super proud to do so. 🇦🇺

If you’ve got time on your hands [we’re sure you do now community sport has finished up for the season] get down to a game and get behind our Aussie women 💚💛⁣

What are you waiting for?

Great to meet you Sally and Ella⁣

Thanks for having me. ⁣😊
