JUST IN| šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦ South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned the recent anti-immigrant protests in the country, describing the xenophobic and violent attacks as a source of deep concern and shame.

Speaking at the SADC Public Lecture at the University of KwaZulu-Natal on August 14, 2026, Ramaphosa criticised the mistreatment and forced displacement of foreigners, calling it a betrayal of regional unity.

He stressed that South Africa cannot advocate for regional integration while promoting exclusion at home, urging the country to support lawful movement across borders and work with neighbouring nations to tackle the underlying causes of migration.

35-year-old Christina Yuan Lee was on her way back to her place in New York Cityā€™s Chinatown in the early morning of Feb 13, she had no idea she was being followed. As she entered her apartment, the man following her forced himself inside too.

Christinaā€™s neighbors were awakened by her cry for help, but when two officers from the NYPD came to the building, they could not enter as the @cker, Assamad Nash, had barricaded the entrance.

He reportedly feigned a female voice and told the officers that they were fine. He asked them to go away, and that they shouldnā€™t break the door.

The officers waited for another 90 minutes for the Emergency Service Unit to arrive before they could enter. When they entered the apartment, Lee was discovered dĀ£ad with 40 st@b woĪ¼Ļ€ds to her body. Nash was also arrested and taken into custody.

Recently on Friday, May 26, Leeā€™s family filed a law suit against the NYPD, they believe Lee would still be alive if the NYPD officers had acted appropriately.

Soldiers BĀ£at Man, Sixtus Akure, To DĀ£ath In Benue.

A staff with Benue state internal revenue service, BIRS identified as Sixtus Terfa Akure has allegedly been bĀ£aten to dĀ£ath by men of the Nigerian army.

It was gathered that the dĀ£ce@sed was before his death a senior inspector of taxes in the state.

The development was confirmed in a statement released by the Executive Chairman of BIRS, Chief (Mrs.) Mimi Adzape-Orubibi.

She said in a statement:

"I have received with deep shock and p@in, the sad news of the brĪ¼tal mĪ¼rder of one of my staff, Sixtus Terfa Akure, who until his dĀ£ath was a Senior Inspector of Taxes.

Unconfirmed sources indicate that the l@te Sixtus was whisked away last night by military personell in what has become a regular occurrence, and his mangled body was found early hours of today around Aper Aku Estate by the road side.

I am understandably deeply p@ined by his dĀ£ath. And the circumstances under which he d!ed.

As a service we condemn this in the strongest terms possible. We offer our deepest condolences to the immediate family of this young man who paid the supreme price in service to the State.

I want to assure all staff of the service that we will leave no stone unturned in getting to the rock bottom of this matter. The perpetrators will be brought to justice no matter what it takes.

I have since made a formal report to the Governor who has not only offered his condolences but has already given assurances that the state government will never abdicate its responsibility to protect citizens and residents of the state.

Zoo staff had given the first-time mother and her one-year-old baby a private holding area so she could rest.

But cameras caught her throwing the baby over a low metal divider, then walking away only for the little one to pop its head and hands back over the gate trying to climb right back to her.
