⚓ How Captain Don of 55m M/Y Vida saved on VAT during their refit in Spain 🇪🇸

Using the Temporary Admission (TPA) scheme with Evolution Yacht Agents , they were able to operate in EU waters without paying VAT upfront. Set up right from day one, that's a serious saving on refits and cruising costs.

🌏 Meet Marieke - our SSG team member connecting some of the world’s most fascinating and remote yachting destinations.

She covers Australia, Asia and the Indian Ocean - key off-the-beaten-track regions
and brings more than 24 years of experience in yachting.

Marieke moved to Southeast Asia in 2002, initially working as a dive instructor and delivery captain before moving into yacht agency. Since 2013, she has also been Sevenstar Yacht Transport’s agent for the region.

Marieke co-authored SSG’s 2020 Guide to the Pacific, Asia and the Middle East, which included the first comprehensive Australia section created specifically for the superyacht industry.

🇹🇷 Turkey has made chartering easier for larger yachts.

Good news for foreign-flagged commercial yachts over 39m: Turkey has extended the validity of its Social & Technical Infrastructure Contribution - meaning one contribution now covers the full calendar year!

That leads to fewer repeat applications, clearer cost planning and more flexibility for multi-month Mediterranean itineraries.

Local feet on the ground support makes all the difference: , based in Göcek with a second office at Milta Marina, can assist with licence applications, customs formalities and berth reservations, as well as yacht logistics.

💙 Wellbeing Wednedsay - New MCA Guidance Note, it's worth one minute of your time ⏱ !

The MCA has introduced an amendment to the STCW - with additional PSSR training focused on preventing workplace violence, bullying and harassment onboard.

Wellbeing isn't just about mental health, it's about the culture that keeps everyone safe, respected and protected 🤝.

Here's who the training applies to:
🔹If your PSSR certificate was issued BEFORE 1st January 2026
👉That's you - every UK-Certified Officer and Rating, and every holder of a UK CoC or CoP needs to do the training!

🔹Completed an approved PSSR course AFTER 1st January already
✅ You're covered, nothing more to do.

The new PSSR module is on the OneOcean Learning platform, takes over an hour, and the compliance deadline is 31 March 2027 - plenty of runway if you start now.

💙 Wellbeing Wednesday | Remembering Each Other 💙

Birthdays can feel very different when you're working away from home.

For crew, they can mean missing family traditions, celebrations with friends and all those little things that normally make the day feel special, particularly when your birthday falls in the middle of a busy charter season.

But it doesn't take much to make someone feel remembered.
🎂 A birthday cake
💌 A card with a few heartfelt words
🍫 Their favourite treat or something from home
✍️ A birthday message on the crew mess whiteboard
🥳 Or simply making time to celebrate together

These small gestures say something much bigger:
We see you. We value you. You matter 🤝

Creating a sense of community, belonging and connection on board is such an important part of crew wellbeing and birthdays are the perfect excuse to come together and have a little fun.

Today's Wellbeing Wednesday is particularly personal for Caroline, as today is Andrew's birthday, with whom she founded the Superyacht Services Guide.

"I really miss him, especially today, and remember all the birthday memories we shared over the years. Some people leave behind more than just memories – they leave kindness, love, connections and a legacy that continues. His spirit of adventure never dies." ✨ 💫

It is with great sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of Captain Andy Burridge on Saturday 15th August, following an unexpected and tragic medical event at his home in Antigua. He was 54.

A much-loved, devoted husband and father, a highly respected professional Captain, and outstanding sailor, Andy was one of the kindest and most generous of souls — a true gentleman, and trusted friend to so many around the world.

His loss is be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, both personally and professionally.

Our heartfelt love, thoughts and deepest condolences go to Sandy and Finn at this incredibly difficult time.
Please know that you are surrounded by friends across the world who are thinking of you and holding you close in their hearts.

Rest peacefully Captain Andy … you will be so greatly missed x
