Last week, Sara and Zina presented to a 25+ team at Universal McCann (now part of the Omnicom/OMD group). UM holds the master media account for the Australian Government and is a key client for community, First Nations, disability, CALD and diverse independent media.

It was a great morning and a valuable opportunity to bring the team together to consolidate their knowledge of the media we represent and to highlight new opportunities. Our role is to keep that knowledge current, and make sure our media remains front of mind when planning campaigns.

On Sunday Sara Ocepek, had the privilege of attending the Pink Sari Inc. 10th Anniversary Celebration Lunch.

Ten years ago, the Pink Sari campaign began as an initiative of NSW Multicultural Health, led by Michael Camit (now Dr Michael Camit), with Spots & Space's production partner I&G helping to bring the campaign to life.

A decade later, Pink Sari is a thriving, community-led organisation, continuing to educate South Asian women and their families about cancer awareness, prevention, early detection and treatment.

Pink Sari's success is a powerful example of what can happen when culturally tailored communications are developed in partnership with communities. Check out Pink Sari on Facebook and help them do their good work!

This week included a Lunch & Learn with the CBAA, a catch-up with the team at Joy FM in Melbourne, and plenty of conversations with broadcasters, advertisers and industry partners along the way.

Happy recently lent her voice to a recent Queensland Government campaign in Tagalog (Filipino).

Sara and Zina hit the road to Canberra yesterday, meeting with the teams at Universal McCann, the University of Canberra and the Australian National University.

Face-to-face meetings are less common these days and the reception was overwhelmingly positive. Every organisation we visited appreciated that we'd made the trip down the Hume to meet in person.

These conversations are an essential way for us to advocate for our media partners, and to make sure that community and independent media are part of the communications planning process.
