Yesterday we said goodbye to Nan, Betty Fewkes.

I was honoured to share her story, with the help of her amazing family, that I'm so proud to be part of.

The intimate service was held at Grace Funerals in Emu Plains. Their chapel was perfectly suited for what we needed. The floral arrangements were spectacular and all the staff, especially Katie, has been so wonderful throughout the entire process.

I only knew Betty for a short time, compared to many those that attended yesterday's service. But of the time I had spent with her, we shared MANY laughs and countless cuppa teas.

She and I shared both a similar sense of fashion and similar sense of humour. I never quite knew what Nan might say next… But I could always depend on her making me laugh.

She’d often say something that was equally shocking and hilarious that would have me cackling so hard - that on occasion, had me bent over, clutching my tummy and wiping tears from my eyes.

I'll always remember that Betty... Rocking up to a family gathering with her hair done, sunnies on, draped in sparkly jewellery.

Even when Denise had whipped up a gigantic feast, which was often, Nan and Pop would always rock up with a cake in hand. There would always be a cake… Or Tim Tams... Or both.

We take comfort in knowing she's now at peace, with Pop - no doubt, keeping him on his toes! ☺️

Oh how these two warm my heart! 🥰

WILL YOU DATE MY MATE?

Em and Oscar’s story begins back in the early 2000’s at Taree High School. The days when you still had to go to Blockbuster to hire movie, when kids were jamming out to Black Eyed Peas on their MP3 players, and when (next to skate boards) Heelys were the preferred method of human-powered transportation.

Oscar had a massive crush on Em. But after she had knocked his invitation to walk with him to the canteen back one lunchtime, he didn’t really fancy his chances at scoring her as a girlfriend. So, he did what any self-respecting pre pubescent teen would do and asked her out for his mate instead.

Em accepted Oscar’s proposal to date Lewis and Oscar was sidelined as wingman, remaining in the friend zone for many years to come.

But as they say, all good things come to those who wait. And being friend-zoned provided Oscar with the perfect opportunity to get to know Em (without complications). When things eventually fizzled out with Lewis, the path was clear for Oscar.

Em always knew there was something special about Oscar… their connection was unlike any other she’d experienced.

Maybe the best part of this story is that Lewis wasn’t just at their wedding, he was Oscar’s groomsman.

Happy endings all-round. What a day.

This wedding goes down as one of my all-time favs - felt like we were all giggling the whole way through. Thanks, Em and Oscar for making my job so easy and so fun. Loved partying with you!
