What a catch! 🎣

Loxton local and passionate lure fisherman Brad Dubrich caught this whopping 126cm Murray Cod just below Bowhill.

He said the catch broke a "massive dry streak" and beat his previous PB of 114cm. 🐟

After this glorious photo was captured, the protected species was carefully returned to the Murray.

"I believe this PB of 126cm will outlive me ... [the fish] would have been 35kg plus ... it will be very hard to come across a bigger one," he said.

Dozens of Riverland and Mallee stock farmers are among those hoping to receive hay in the coming week, with around 6000 bales being trucked over from Western Australia. 🚛

More than 400 primary producers across the state have requested assistance from Need for Feed Australia, which has made 11 trips into SA in 18 months to deliver fodder to families impacted by the drought.

Chairman Graham Cockerell said locals who have been registered for assistance for longer periods are more likely to see deliveries. 🌾

"Even though it's 6000 bales, it just won't go that far," he said.

"It's virtually $1 million straight out of our bank account, and I can tell you there's not a real lot more left in there ... and there's so many more people that need help."

Ngarrindjeri woman and director of the Murray Bridge Preschool Kindergarten Shirley Hartman has secured a grant through the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board to help deliver cultural initiatives.

A native garden has been planted at the preschool where local elders and children can work together to deepen their connection with the land.

She said hands-on experiences enable children to understand the cultural importance of the local flora and fauna. 🌱

"I want the children to be exposed to all of the experiences that I can, and I'm hoping they grow up to be children that will learn to understand the importance and the connection of the environment and to the Ngarrindjeri people as well," she said.

A gap in South Australia's prison placement guidelines is set to close after murder victim Michael Purse's family pushed for change after learning one of his killers had been moved to a low-security facility.

Michael's father Jeffrey Purse previously told the media of his devastation at learning that Edwin James Hinrichsen, who was convicted of his son's manslaughter in 2023, had been moved from Yatala Labour Prison to Cadell Training Centre in the state's Riverland.
