St Albans Bridge remediation works.

Information from the NSW Government.

The NSW Government will continue maintenance and repair work underneath St Albans Bridge at St Albans. All work will now take at least four-months to complete, ensuring continued reliability of the bridge following natural ageing and flooding impacts.
This work was originally due to be completed over six-months between October 2024 and March 2025, weather permitting. Flood events in late 2024 and again in 2025 caused suspension of work for more than 12-months. Delay was extended when naturally occurring discoloured water was found at the base of Pier 4.

What work are we doing
Moderate to high impact work in the next four months (late August to mid-December 2026) includes:
re-establishing a temporary site compound
pumping and lightly treating water from inside the temporary coffer dam surrounding Pier 4
removing river sand and other debris from the base of Pier 4
erecting scaffolding around Pier 4
installing a heavy-duty shrink-wrap system to capture all paint flakes
high pressure blasting steelwork to remove existing paint
removing corroded steelwork in need of replacement
installing new steelwork on and around the columns, followed by concrete grouting
applying final protective coatings.

When we’ll be working
Work will continue underneath St Albans Bridge from late August to mid-December 2026, weather permitting. Work hours are 7am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday. There will be no work on Sunday or public holidays.

What this means for you
There will be temporary traffic changes while we complete this work. This includes potential lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h. Please keep to the speed limits and follow the directions of traffic control and signs. Traffic control will assist pedestrians past the work area if required.

Managing our impacts
Our work will be noisy at times, but we will do everything we can to minimise our impacts by:
turning off equipment and vehicles when not in use
separating vehicle and pedestrian access
using quieter equipment where possible, including use of noise blankets around the bridge columns
using a reinforced sealed curtain with pressurised extraction to capture all dust particles
removing all waste from site, and disposing of it at a licensed waste facility
temporarily relocating plant and equipment from the flood zone if the SES issues a flood warning for St Albans
maintaining normal RFS station access.

🎤 A comedy classic is hitting The Regent stage next week!

25 years on, Speedmouse is back and just as fast, physical, chaotic and brilliantly ridiculous as ever. 😂

Dave and Shane are returning to the stage with their mysterious Roadie for a comedy show unlike anything else, creating the impossible with nothing more than a microphone, movement and their completely unmatched timing.

If you’re a longtime Umbilical Brothers fan, or you’re ready to discover why Speedmouse became a comedy classic, don’t miss your chance to see it live at The Regent Theatre.
