I started my studio with a naive dream—recording and mixing heavy bands full-time. 10 years ago, that felt like an unachievable milestone. Today, I’m doing it.

But be careful what you dream of—because the reality isn’t all glitter and unicorns. Running an audio production business full-time is a test. A brutal challenge. Can you keep up with the workload? The endless revisions? Shrinking budgets? Paying the bills without burning out? Managing a schedule with no real structure? Staying ahead in an industry where the bar keeps rising?

And yet… I’m here. Still doing this. Full-time. And I’m beyond grateful to create music that fulfills both me and my clients. The grind is real. And when it comes to making music, the real test begins - as the Universe will test your worth for creating something that has no price tag on it - your art.

That’s why all I can do is focus on self-development, meditation, a strict routine, mental health, and just staying humble and grinding.

I've been full-time in this business for 5 years now, and professionally for more than a decade

This career is no walk in the park and isn't for the faint-hearted

In fact it will test you to your very core. Music industry either crushes you. Or you thrive through it. This test is what defines heavy music and those of us who can make it a career...

Sleepless nights on where to get the next client.
How to survive through an overwhelm of projects? How to reply to all messages and emails and not make anyone upset? Give enough value and attention to the peers?

Constant fatigue - it takes all the efforts and more to fill in the calendar. Make the content the audience will benefit from. Doing it all for free.

To only persevere and do what you love the most. Create heavy music with amazing people and live off it.

That's why I'm putting in the work. To say that I'm challenged all the time is an understatement. I got no choice though - either power through the challenges and be the best for my clients, on too of my game, skills, fatigue.

Or literally disappear trying.

I respect every musician and peer out there putting in the hard yards. Let's crush this year together!

Super grateful to attend the NAMM show.

It took a lot to get here. The overwhelming energy, acceptance, respect, and wilingness to collaborate that I experienced from the amazing NAMM music community is thrilling.

I'm so grateful to experience this community-based approach to making music, and I'm excited to implement this thinking into my workflows, as well as meet more like-minded musicians in Australia now!

Thank you and the MBMH community. You guys are my best buddies, come down to Melbourne to hang!

Thank you for organising brilliant lectures and workshops, and managing the show!

Thank you the metal community of NAMM, , , and everyone from the huge metal crew for being sick.

I'm still pinching myself on how long I've come.

Yesterday we had an amazing catch up with Simon at The Avenue recording studios. The space is incredible and has a rich recording history of Melbourne metal bands in 2010s. One of the best SSL consoles in town, spectacular acoustics, sick microphone selection - anything you need, really.

I've been dreaming to record heavy bands full-time. Sitting in front of the console and running sessions. For so many years I thought that this is unachievable.

This photo (with my moderate excitement) proves otherwise. I'm exactly here. I'm stoked to serve valuable to you, heavy bands, and help you create the best sounding records.

Not to say that this lifestyle is a challenge. It requires 110% focus on my craft, and wrapping the rest of the life around it. It is so much worth it though.

I want to celebrate the release of Gladiolus - Inertia with you once again.

This album is an incredibly personal venture to me, even though I was only involved as a mixing engineer.

I could feel through the deepest journey that Dan, Anson, Zak, and Joe pictured in these songs. I still feel very emotional listening to them after a while as I channeled these messages through when mixing the tracks.

The album has been long in the works, the process has been complex and tedious - as it goes with any prog metal album.

It's out there now, and ProgSphere rightfully rated the album 10/10. I couldn't expect any less for the lads as their musicanship speaks for itself, and my job was to simply represent it in the best light and not step in their way.

With this, please enjoy Inertia as much as we all do, and maybe you would connect to these songs too!

So uber stoked and grateful to receive the most lovely postcard from Nate and the lads!

This project has been an absolute blast. From meeting each other out of a sheer accident (Richmond, Victoria and Richmond, Virginia) and checking out the raw demos, helping the lads with songwriting and remote pre-production, to producing the record, seeing Devolution collaborate with the best heavy musicians in the world, working with Tue Madsen and finally peaking in the US charts and at the , the journey has been nothing short of amazing!

So grateful to contribute to this incredible album and see the lads go so so far!! From the bottom of my heart, thank you , Eric, , Chris, and the rest of the team!!
