In English folklore, the Black Shuck, Old Shuck, Old Shock or simply Shuck is the name given to a ghostly black dog which is said to roam up and down the coastline and across the countryside of East Anglia. Descriptions of the creature's appearance and nature have varied considerably; it has, at times been recorded as an omen of death.
We use this mythical creature as a reference to "The Black Dog", a common description of poor mental health and depression.
As we all know, trauma, addiction, domestic violence among other issues can be common causes of depression and anxiety.
Here in this podcast series, we'll discuss these many topics with guests that have defeated or are still on their journey to defeat the Black Shuck and are no longer looking over their shoulder for the metaphorical ominous creature. We hope to give others like you and I, a chance to share their experiences, their times of vulnerability and glimpse of hope and support in knowing they're not alone in their struggle.
This podcast series will be available on YouTube, Facebook, and soon Spotify.
