🌐✨ Yesterday (or today in the USA) was/is “World Social Media Day”, and as a Social Media Manager, it’s a day that really makes me reflect on the power of these platforms.

I see every day just how much social media shapes the way we live, connect, learn, and share. It’s not just about scrolling – it’s about building communities, starting conversations, creating opportunities, and keeping people informed and inspired.

For me, managing social media isn’t just a job – it’s about helping businesses and people show up online with confidence, purpose, and authenticity.

It’s been a thing for years about putting links in the comments — and now Facebook is finally backing it.

According to their Widely Viewed Content Report, 97.3% of post views come from posts without links.

It’s a good reminder to focus on content that drives engagement first — and save the links for the comments.

I try and mix it up, but definitely see better reach with no link in the post!

Great tips on getting more traction with on Instagram with your content! Thanks Jenn's Trends 🙏

Wanna get more reach and engagement on your Instagram posts this year? Here are some "sneaky" tips you can use to get better results!

✅Do more Reels! Yes, even if you don't love them, they do tend to get more reach and engagement overall.

✅After you post a Reel, don't share it to your Stories immediately. Instead, wait 2-3 days to share to your Story. Fun fact: this was a tip I got from a Meta rep and, though I can't solidly confirm it works, I have some soft data that indicates it works. The idea being you let your Reel get its own traction and then as attention starts to wane, you push it to your Stories for a second boost in performance.

✅Include a call-to-action in your Reels (and other posts too) to SHARE the post. Adding in this simple reminder can significantly increase your shares, boosting overall performance, and getting your Reels further distributed as the share mentality spreads with more viewers.

✅Use carousels. This is far from a "new" tactic, but it's still a powerful one, so this is your reminder not to ignore the power (and second chance for exposure) in using carousels.

✅Use hashtags! Yes, still. They work. And they impact search, Explore, and recommendations results so the better you are with your hashtags, the better your posts perform. Need help with hashtags? ✅Give your audience what they want! THIS might be the most important tip I can give you. If your audience wants photos, give them photos. If your audience wants 10 second Reels, do more of those. If your audience wants education, start giving them more. If your audience wants more of you, get yourself in front of that camera! How do you know what they want? Review your IG insights. Look for high performing posts and do more of what is working in those top posts.

So much to unpack with IG updates and changes! Most notably the change in photo sizing! 🙏 Thanks to Jenn's Trends all the new info is in her post below!

It's been interesting these past few days, hasn't it?? SO MUCH has happened in the last 4 days. Here's a recap of what you need to know:

1. IG moved to the 4:5 portrait mode on the profile grid. Yes, it's permanent. You can go to 4:5 (1080x1350 pixels) layout for images or keep it square and just keep text and important information off the side margins.

2. You can "fix" your old images in your IG grid by selecting any image, tap on the 3-dot button in the upper right, select "Adjust Preview". You can choose the "Fit" option to fit the square image within the 4:5 layout.

3. This also brought a new layout for the profile, moving the name & pronouns to the top of the profile, and making the post and follower counts smaller.

4. IG is working on more options within this profile change that will allow you to rearrange your grid and allow you to post to your profile only (not distributing content to the feed of followers and non-followers)

5. Meta will release a new video editing app called "Edits". It's a CapCut knockoff and is available for pre-order now for iOS & will be available to Android users in coming weeks.

6. Reels can now be up to 3 minutes long. This extends the Reels creation in-app beyond the current 90 seconds.

7. See what Reels your friends are interacting with. A new button in the upper right corner of your Reels feed will take you to the Reels that are being liked and interacted with by the people you follow. I'm cautious of this one... it's possible it will discourage us from interacting with certain Reels for fear that others will see what we interacted with.

8. TikTok & CapCut were shut down for less than 24 hours in the US. In preparation for the looming legislation, the apps went dark in the US Saturday evening, but, under reassurance from the incoming administration, the apps reactivated on Sunday, though not all functions seem fully functional.

👉Let's be real, I do NOT think it's a coincidence that IG rolled out all these changes THIS weekend. This is all to keep IG in the news amid all the TT changes and obvious attempts to replace the TT style and content given the ban. I just don't know if they expected TT to recover so quickly.
