Gambling is an addiction that can easily spiral out of control, impacting many individuals and families. Back in August 2024 we drafted the Gambling Harm Prevention Policy to set out how we can minimise gambling related harm in Knox.

Knox residents face greater financial losses from electronic gaming machines than compared to residents of metropolitcan Melbourne.

The draft policy was shaped by community feedback from the phase 1 consultation in August 2024, focusing on four key areas: planning and regulation, building community capacity, leadership and advocacy.

We want to hear your say on the draft policy before midnight on Wednesday 22nd October 2025 by online, in-person, email, in writing or chatting over the phone.

🗑Do you still have a yellow lid on your rubbish bin? We are close to finishing the changeover of residential rubbish bin lids in Knox from yellow to red to meet state government rules. 🗑

If your rubbish bin still has a yellow lid, here's what you need to know and what actions to take:

-The same team that collects your rubbish will also be changing the remaining lids.

-Trucks can only carry a limited number of new red lids at a time, so if it's not changed yet, it will be done on a future rubbish collection day.

-Your rubbish will be collected as normal, whether it has a yellow or red lid.

IF you haven’t received a new red lid by 1st October, you can:

-Continue to leave your rubbish out on your usual rubbish collection day until you get a new lid every fortnight, or;

-Lodge a request with us online.

👚'Shift to thrift' is coming this October!👗

Are you a thrifter? A sustainable shopper or bargain seeker? Look no further, the Knox Op Shop Trail is back and ready to help you shop savvy, give items a new home and be more environmentally friendly.🌿

Did you know the average Australian throws out 23kg of textile waste into landfill each year? Furthermore, they replace it with another 27kg of new products? 🗑

Textiles are the most carbon-intensive materials per tonne to be produced, and Australians are the second largest consumer of textiles per person in the world!👕

Op shops can help us reduce our waste and encourage us to shop second-hand instead of buying new products. Plus, the money made from sales at op shops supports community relief initiatives!💞

How does the trail work?

1- Register for free to participate

2- Print out a competition trail form or email
[email protected] so we can send you one.

3- Visit participating stores from 1st-31st October and get your trail form stamped. No purchase is necessary.

4- If you decide to buy something, enjoy special shopping discounts and be in the running to win prizes.

5- Donate goods to a store to receive an extra stamp.

6- Send your completed trail form back to us by 12 November.

If you are a dad to a newborn, toddler, and/or preschool aged child, come for food and stay for chats at Dads Connect.
