DISTRESSING CONTENT WARNING

💥 SOUND ON: This is what's happening at Fred Caterson Reserve to make way for the new home of Eastwood Rugby. Every single day this week.

Wallabies have lost their habitat. Birds have lost their nesting trees. Endangered Powerful Owls are losing the hollows they depend on to breed. And now hazard reduction burning is scheduled in the same area where displaced wildlife is seeking refuge - after chemicals have already been sprayed across the site and washed into the creek where Platypus live.

This is not a planning dispute. This is destruction.

Here's the timeline the Council doesn't want you to focus on:
Aug/Sep 2025 - Council seeks community feedback on a new Plan of Management
Nov 2025 - The NSW Government pauses assessment of that Plan pending ICAC inquiries
Feb/Mar 2026 - Council decides to disregard all community input, dust off a 2014 plan, and send in the bulldozers anyway
The community consulted in good faith. The Government paused the process for serious reasons. The Council proceeded regardless.

This is public land. These are your trees. This is your wildlife.

Bennelong says Yes! 🗳️ Today, I’m out with fellow volunteers in Ryde, 🚪knocking on doors, 🗣️having conversations and answering questions as we approach this historic moment in our nation’s history.

I’m voting “YES” because this Referendum is a critical first step in ensuring remains independent from political influence and bureaucratic interference. It’s about empowering a diverse group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to actively shape the policies and address the challenges that directly impact their communities. 🖤💛❤️

Happy ! Today is a day to proudly promote Auslan as our native and preferred language for Deaf people in Australia, as well as recognise the culture and history of the Deaf community.

and the Deaf community want to make 13th April a permanent official celebration fixture on the Deaf Community’s calendar.

This will promote and increase awareness of Auslan and its community of users to the broader Australian community. It will also create momentum in pushing for Auslan to be formally recognised as an official minority language in Australia.

"Life is funny, clumsy and awkward." As soon as the amazing Maria Thattil spoke these words during her talk at Ryde Library earlier this week, I knew we were in for a special night.

Maria shared remarkable stories of how she overcame challenges like racism, sexism, and mental health set-backs to become just the third woman of colour to represent Australia in the Miss Universe competition.

Maria's book, 'Unbounded', is not just another memoir, but a practical guide to help readers attain self-mastery, love themselves fearlessly, and break free from the shackles that bind them. It's a MUST-READ for exploring your own identity, breaking free from your limiting beliefs, and ultimately live your best life.

Had a super fun time with the very friendly and welcoming Ryde Pickleball in the Park crew. Thanks for having me along for a "d**k" (I think I'm using the term correctly)!

As one of the fastest growing sports on Earth, Pickleball is both a blast to play and one of the greatest community builders we've seen in years. It's easy to learn for all ages and abilities, whilst being challenging enough for those with a more competitive streak. I can see why there's a need for more Pickleball venues in City of Ryde & Hunter's Hill Council to meet the growing demand.

Ryde Pickelball in the Park hosts games every morning and 2 evenings a week at locations in , , , , & , and their aim is to promote health, fitness, fun, and social cohesion (while advancing ones' pickleball skills in the process).

So why not give it a go!

🚨 Whilst TG Millner may be saved for now, another side to the story is the bushland earmarked for destruction to create Eastwood Rugby's new home.

Fred Caterson Reserve is the last remaining large parcel of bushland in the Castle Hill area, yet The Hills Shire Council is pushing to destroy 52,000 sq metres of it.

Saving TG Millner also means saving Fred Caterson Reserve. Retaining our precious open space here will mean significantly less if the can is kicked down the proverbial road for another to be destroyed nearby.

Support the Friends of Fred Caterson Reserve's campaign by signing this petition, urging the Hills Shire Council to reject this plan: https://chng.it/FW8XDytQKx
