Today, Sunday 11 January 2026, a statewide Total Fire Ban has been declared.

No fires can be lit, or be allowed to remain alight, in the open air from 12:01 AM until 11:59 PM.

⚠️ Mallee Fire Danger Rating: HIGH

🔥No fire can be lit in the open air or be allowed to remain alight in the open air between 00:01 and 23:59.

❌FDRs do NOT forecast the likelihood of a fire, fires CAN start anywhere at ANY time.
✅FDRs DO tell you how DANGEROUS the conditions make a fire if one was to start.

🔥Ensure your emergency kit is packed ready.
🔥Ensure your family or friends know your plans if leaving early.
🔥Ensure you keep up to date with the latest emergency information through the Vic Emergency app, website or hotline, ABC radio or sky news tv.

‼️If you see flames or a column of smoke, report immediately to 000.

An update from St Arnaud fire brigade.

There's still a lot of smoke in the air and a few houses without power, so please stay safe and stay inside.

If you're living in the Moyreisk area, please let emergency services in and around to do their job, they're working hard to ensure the fires stay out and under control.

Thank you to our amazing firefighters who have been and are still braving the heat today and into tonight.

Some information from Coliban Water for our readers in Bealiba, Dunolly and Newstead.

𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲
All customers in these locations are advised to limit water use to essential use only until further notice.

𝗗𝘂𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗮
A burst water main in the Waanyarra Nature Conservation Reserve near Dunolly is restricting water supply in Dunolly and Bealiba.

This service disruption could last until tomorrow.

Crews cannot enter the reserve to repair the burst or cart water as it is unsafe due to the high fire risk and risk of fallen trees.

We are asking standpipe customers in Newstead to limit their water use. There will be low water pressure from standpipes.

Tomorrow (Saturday, January 10, 2026) has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban for the whole State of Victoria.

No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12.01am until 11.59pm.

Wimmera and Mallee regions have a HIGH fire danger rating, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't remain vigilant.
