DARK OZ is the publisher of DECAY and Retro Sci-Fi Tales - Australian anthology comic books, featuring over 150 creators so far. Every issue is a showcase of the incredible talent Australia has to offer. DECAY is a Mature Readers horror anthology, with 23 issues out so far. Retro Sci-Fi Tales is a PG rated anthology of sci-fi stories with a nostalgic feel. Both titles are a mix of professional cre

ators and new emerging talents. Many of Australia's top creators have worked on these comics, along with a few international guests too. DECAY often features stories of the sexy Vampire "Sisters" and zombie stories set in the "OZ ZOMBIE" universe. But there are many other horror tales in every genre you can imagine. All stories in DECAY are short self-contained one-off stories, meaning you can enjoy reading any issue alone, while Retro Sci-Fi Tales now has a couple ongoing stories. Upcoming DARK OZ comic books and magazines (AND Blu-Ray movies) projects, in 2026, on KICKSTARTER (global online crowd funding platform).

To find any of these projects, anytime, always just go to Kickstarter (online) and then search for 'Darren Koziol' (type 'Darren Koziol' into the search bar at the top of the Kickstarter page).

Darren is the creator, owner, manager & director of DARK OZ, as well as being the main author (of the stories in the comics), the designer (putting all of the magazines and comics together for print), the letterer (placing the speech bubbles and text in the comics) AND the face of DARK OZ at conventions, while working with dozens of amazing artists who bring the comics to life.

2026 is going to be a busy year:

Early in 2026 we'll aim to hopefully (and finally) release the Ozploitation 'Movie Comics' - Australia's FIRST EVER comic book movie adaptations - in magazine sized comics (AND we'll have the LAST EVER stock of the Blu-Ray releases which also contain the printed mini comic books).

We'll also release the 3rd issue of the world's ONLY Mad Max Fan Magazine 'Silver City' - this is going to be awesome!!!

AND there will be a 4th issue of the new Australian 'Movies & Comics' magazine 'Bonfire Horror Club', issue #4 out around May.

With all of this in the works, we've had to push back the release date of 'Retro Sci-Fi Tales #13' - which will feature a new 'Bruno & Maggie' story as they fight monstrous evil alien 'Killer Clowns', as well as several other new short stories.

ALSO... stay tuned here on Facebook for other possible projects (we have several preliminary projects in the pipeline, hopefully one of those will get picked up soon).

WIN tickets to SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT

WIN a FREE in-season DOUBLE PASS - valid Australia wide - in cinemas from 11-Dec-2025

Trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU1LdrY3ReA
Official website - https://silentnightdeadlynight.com.au/

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT reimagines a 1984 cult horror classic in which a young boy witnesses the murder of his parents at the hands of a man dressed as Santa, only to grow up and become a killer himself. Haunted by trauma and fuelled by a twisted sense of justice, he dons the red suit, turning the advent calendar into a series of nights of terror. As Christmas Eve approaches, a small town becomes his latest hunting ground, where the naughty and bad pay the ultimate price. Blending psychological horror, brutal slasher thrills, a touch of the supernatural, and - more shockingly still - a sprinkle of romance, the film delivers a modern chilling new take on the ultimate holiday nightmare.

WOW - what an amazing weekend that was - 3 events over 4 days in Melbourne - 27th to 30th Nov 2025

1st event was a quick 'meet & greet / signing session' at 'AU Pokemon and Collectibles' - despite the name this is NOT a 'Pokemon' shop, this is a proper comic book shop with the latest weekly new releases AND a fantastic back issue selection (where I spent a lot of my time, and money, ha ha), with the fairest prices (on comics, bags, boards, etc - everything!!!) of any comic book shop I know and a super friendly and helpful owner 'Chris'. It was such a rush that I only took a couple photos as I walked in (sorry for so few photos here). Thursday 27-Nov-2025 5:30 to 6:30pm

2nd event was the main event of the weekend and WOW it was INSANE!!! Just AWESOME!!! The 'Astor Film Bazaar' at the Astor Theatre in St Kilda. The queue of people to get in never let up until almost the end of the day, the place was packed and jumping! I was so busy I actually passed my camera to someone else (one of the Astor Film Bazaar staff) to get a few photos for me - thanks! Seriously one of the BEST events I've been to all year. Sales were through the roof, and I found some amazing items to buy. AND I'm still getting customers contacting me with follow up questions and orders - wanting MORE (they loved what they bought)!!! Saturday 29-Nov-2025

3rd event was the 'Yarraville Comic & Toy Fair' - gotta LOVE these tailored events with such great variety (and yep I also found lots of cool things to buy). A cool, fun and chilled event to round out a brilliant weekend, with lots of friendly faces (I caught up with quite a few people I know). This was on Sunday 30-Nov-2025

Also, on the Friday (between events) I had time to see the Christmas lights in Melbourne, AND drive out to Geelong to visit the insanely awesome 'Popcultcha Collector Gallery' in the Federal Mills Park - definitely worth the drive. The final 7 photos here are from the Popcultcha shop, inside the old Mill - a stunning venue.
