Excited for this one ~ The Parlour.
Why ‘The Parlour’? Well, according to the family we bought the house from, this room was where deceased were held during a brief period in the 1940s when the house was used as a hospital for the aged. The bodies were kept in this room prior to being transferred to what is now our lounge, and laid out for the families to come and say their goodbyes.
With some digging around I discovered that this was common practice in the early 19th century, it turns out these rooms were referred to as a parlour or death room, so it seemed fitting to go with The Parlour, as the alternative is a bit dark.
And no, we didn’t know this when we moved in.
Also no, we haven’t seen any ghosts although they have been reported to linger but are all friendly
