It’s not lost on me, how incredibly fortunate and privileged I was to be able to attend this year’s World Congress of Science and Factual Producers – especially given that it was held in such an incredible, awe-inspiring location: Marrakesh, Morocco!

(What WAS lost on me, however, was my luggage – for five days – but, don’t worry, I’m well over that now).

What was also particularly exciting about this conference, is that it signified the first time I was pitching projects under not one but TWO banners – (which, unbelievably, is 20+ years old now) and our newly-formed collective - and I’m very happy to report that I’ve come away with some terrific leads and market interest, so please continue to watch this space folks!

Apart from the valuable meetings and sessions, some of the other highlights included the tour of the Jacaranda/Dune studios (seen here) – where Game of Thrones and the Gladiators were shot – and, with mountainous backdrops like those also seen in a couple of the pics here, even the 45-minute morning walk to the conference was most invigorating!

A big shout out to for making this whole trip possible through their market grant program – I simply wouldn’t have been able to take our slate and stories to the world, without this generous support!

I (Mandy) was VERY HONOURED to be on the judging panel for the inaugural Underdog Film Fest which launches into the world in 3 DAYS' TIME (SAT, 21 SEPT), at the Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct, in Logan City.

And, like all genuine underdogs (and judging from the brilliant quality of the finalists) this one is already punching well above its weight and on its way to becoming a true champion!

Come and see for yourself and book your tickets here:

I, for one, am really looking forward to that AFTERPARTY!

I was very saddened to hear of Jack Karlson's passing today.

We spent a hugely fun day with him in January, shooting for our doco 'Burning Down the House', with .

I can't help but think how differently his life may have turned out had he not been thrown into an orphanage as a boy.

I reckon he would've gained a reputation as an acclaimed painter or actor, rather than the accidental meme he became known for. I feel lucky to have met him - needless to say, he was a larger-than-life character!
