Construction has officially commenced on the new Serpentine Fire Station, finally giving the local firies a base that’s not stuck in the 1980s.

The crew got together on-site Friday, with CFA brass and long-time captain Neville Cockerell chucking a shovel into the dirt and making it all official.

“This new station will give us the space and facilities we need to modernise and grow,” said, Nev, whose been with the brigade for over 30 years.

“We trained seven new members last year, and having a modern, fit-for-purpose base will help us attract even more people to join,” he added.

“It’ll also give us a place to come together socially, this will help us build an even stronger, more connected brigade.”

The new digs on Treloar Street will have all the bells and whistles, including two appliance bays, separate male/female gear-up rooms, a training space with a kitchen, and a shiny new office.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a Club favourite in our beloved Titch, a cherished member of the Bears Lagoon Serpentine Football Netball Club family. Titch was more than just a member of our club, he was a former teammate, volunteer, supporter and current committee member. Titch loved the club, and was always looking to be involved and help in any way he could bringing passion, dedication, and kindness to everything he did and was responsible for starting the Hall of Fame for the Club.

Whether on the field, behind the scenes, or cheering from the sidelines, Titch loved being involved at the Club. His contributions and unwavering support will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Titch you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

The Loddon Shire Council has selected Dan Straub, Councillor for the Terrick Ward, as its Mayor for the next twelve months.

“I’d like to thank my fellow Councillors for electing me as Mayor – it is a great honour,” said Dan. “I’d also like to acknowledge and thank Cr Holt for his excellent leadership as Mayor for the past year.”

The beautiful Serpentine Creek, near Salisbury West, which flows into the Loddon River! 💦

OVERVIEW: Serpentine Creek, North of Bendigo.

Serpentine Creek in West Victoria starts near Serpentine at an elevation of 125m and ends at an elevation of 95m flowing into the Loddon River.

The Serpentine Creek drops around 29.8m over its 47.3km length.

As if tomorrow night wasn’t already going to be freakin awesome.

My great and dear lifelong friend, Mr Anthony Taylor, is going to be with me to do this show. If you don’t know who Anthony Taylor is, I’ll sum him up in a few words. He is one of the best guitarists/artists/humans on this earth. And I am honoured that he has agreed to accompany me on stage tomorrow night.
