Okay, real talk: This is actually our second time giving the a go.

The first time? Honestlyโ€ฆ it just didnโ€™t land like we hoped.
Milo and Poppy werenโ€™t overly interested in the sniff departmentโ€ฆmore ball than brain game, and we figured maybe it just wasnโ€™t for them.

Was I disappointed? 100%.
I loved the science and concept behind the schnuzzle, so when we didnโ€™t see that instant sniffy excitementโ€ฆ it felt like another gimmick.

๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐žโ€™๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ก๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ž ๐๐ข๐๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐ฎ๐ฉ:
Frenchies (and other brachy breeds) donโ€™t have the same sniffing power as long-nosed dogs. Their short snouts make scent work harder, but not impossible.

This time, we took it slow.
We switched out scent discs โ€˜til one finally piqued their interest. We let them interact with it on their terms, no pressure, no expectations. And it worked.

Sometimes enrichment isnโ€™t instant. Itโ€™s a process.
And for flat-faced pups, thatโ€™s totally normal.
So if a tool doesnโ€™t hit the mark right away? Donโ€™t write it off.

Educate yourself on the benefits and donโ€™t be too quick to dismiss enrichment altogether.
Sometimes itโ€™s just about timing, patience, and trying againโ€ฆwith a new strategy.

Soaking up the last of the Autumnal hues

That in-between season is here.
Crisp mornings, sunny afternoons, and cooler evenings that settle in quickly. You might notice your dog already adjusting โ€” slower to get out of bed, seeking out sun patches, or hesitating at the door before walks.

As the weather shifts, nowโ€™s the perfect time to start making small changes to support their comfort and wellbeing:

โ€ข Offer a warm, draft-free space to rest. Time to get out those cozy blankets!
โ€ข Dry off paws and bellies after wet walks to help avoid skin irritation and chills
โ€ข Keep an eye out for signs of stiffness, dry skin, or seasonal allergies (the worst!)
โ€ข Light layers or jumpers may help, especially for breeds sensitive to cold (frenchies are drama queens for this)โ€ฆ and who can resist those cute AF knits anyway?!

Our dogs feel the change of seasons just like we doโ€ฆbut rely on us to adjust their care. Iโ€™ve certainly noticed it with our two. Miloโ€™s skin is definitely drier and miss Poppy is only just getting over an upper RI. The joys of the cooler months!
