A rising Aotearoa (New Zealand) artist will unveil her debut solo show in Melbourne next week, bringing a playful yet reflective lens to urban life.

Hannah Morgan Savage's debut show, Playground, opens at Red Gallery on July 23, featuring a vibrant new body of work that combines painting, pastel, and experimental animation.

Inspired by Ms Savage's travels in 2024, Playgrounds observes how infrastructure and access to facilities shape the lifestyles and rituals of urban communities.

Ms Savage said she was excited to showcase her art in a city which had "profoundly" shaped and inspired her art practice.

"I hope in these landscapes, audiences find warmth, nostalgia and a gratitude for the sense of community that exists within their own lives," she said.

Ms Savage uses her art to examine the relationship between people and the landscape, informed by social studies, her personal lived experience, a passion for climate-resilient transformation, and international travel.

Having completed a Geography major Ms Hannah's creative practice is informed by learnings in social studies, passion for climate-resilient transformation and experiences of international travel.

The show runs until August 3 at Red Gallery, 157 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North, and is open Wednesday to Sunday, 1 pm- 5 pm.

An opening event will be held on Friday, July 25, from 6–8 pm, celebrating Playgrounds and three other new exhibitions.
