Theatre Works and its nearby Explosives Factory venue are heading into a busy stretch of independent theatre, new Australian writing, physical comedy, musical theatre and Melbourne Fringe performances across September and October 2026.

St Kilda audiences can choose from a sharp examination of religion, Patricia Cornelius's unsettling portrait of masculinity, a saintly physical-comedy, a fresh staging of Lord of the Flies, a new song cycle about hope and a gloriously overcharged Mel Brooks musical.

St Kilda has always known how to make a night of it.
Dinner turns into drinks, drinks turn into conversation, and before you know it the evening has stretched well past where you thought it would. Into that rhythm steps Saaqi, a new modern Indian dining and wine experience with ambitions that go well beyond simply putting another curry on the table.
Saaqi is aiming for the whole night.

The idea is to take the flavours, memories and generosity of Indian dining and place them inside a contemporary Melbourne setting — polished, thoughtful and modern, but without sanding away the soul of the food.
That balance is important.
Indian cuisine has never exactly lacked personality. It is bold, aromatic, regional, deeply layered and often tied as much to memory and family as it is to ingredients. Saaqi’s approach is to respect all of that while presenting it in a way that feels fresh and comfortably at home in St Kilda.
And then there is the wine.

St Kilda has always known how to make a night of it. Dinner turns into drinks, drinks turn into conversation, and before you know it the evening has stretched

"About Face" - yep, it's behind the face, it's all about the back of the head - Hair!!! - 7 pieces only.

This is the first time Jo will exhibit "About Face" in Melbourne!!

From her Master's series in London.

"Drawings, graphite and colour pencil on black card - mounted and framed in black timber.
