A Jazz Hour

A Jazz Hour JAZZ HOUR -official page of the national music program broadcast weekly on the CBAA.

A Jazz Hour

is sixty minutes of the very best of contemporary jazz recordings presented weekly by Barry O’Sullivan on Fridays on Fine Music Sydney in St Leonards, Sydney http://www.finemusicsydney.com
The program is then repeated on Saturdays across Australia to all States and Territories from 5-6pm on The Community Radio Network. Each week listeners are treated to fine jazz and interviews wi

th musicians focussing on recorded improvised music from Australia. Barry O’Sullivan has been broadcasting on the jazz scene for over twenty years. His national program A Jazz Hour now approaches its nineteenth year on the CRN Network broadcasting to over 120 stations across Australia each Saturday 5-6pm AEST and for late night owls each Thursday morning from 2.00am AEST in all states and Territories. He also reviews recordings and live performances for the international website "All About Jazz", Fine Music Magazine, Dingo Magazine and Jazz and Beyond. His extensive knowledge of both the local and overseas scene makes the program an ideal listening base for jazz fans across the country. The program strives to create an awareness of primarily the musicians involved in the Australian improvised music scene through live interviews and programming their music, while bonding with the music being recorded internationally by their contemporaries. Nostalgic recordings from the bebop and swing eras are also given prominence from time to time as Barry believes that these are the very roots of jazz history which can never be ignored or forgotten
