Last weekend, and I had an opportunity to go West and try our luck at catching Murray Cod. In a last-minute twist, we had to change our location due to private properties, and ended up at a different campground, but fortunately, it was still close to the water.

The weather was incredibly hot, and the 4-5 litres of drinking water we had was barely enough for a day.

The terrain was probably the most challenging I’ve ever encountered while fishing, but it was definitely worth the effort. We both managed to catch some cod on bigger topwater lures, and Ethan even landed a nice Yellowbelly.

Catching Australian Bass on big surface lure is probably one of the most beautiful form of fishing.

In upper creek environment, they tend to hit bigger lures in very shallow water. My short morning session was very productive, and managed to catch a 46 and 47cm bass.

Huge shout out to from who helped me to catch my first jewfish.

Bo and I had a double hook up on the 5” HerculeZ. Unfortunately, he dropped his fish after a few seconds but I landed this 97cm one. I’m pretty stoked as I haven’t caught jewfish before.

Thanks for the tough but epic session mate, looking forward to going back and catching some more fish.

I had an amazing bush walking/cooking/topwater creek session today. If you’re targeting big bass in shallow water the 5” StreakZ Curly Tail and the 4” Goat ToadZ rigged on a TT ChinlockZ are your best bet. 🤌
